FOOTBALL Fifa 12 - console and PC!

Youth Academy!! Finally...

This now looks like a FIFA that actually builds on something from the last game in terms of offline play.

Just one problem with the 'Man City style takeovers', if you remain with the same club throughout your career, then your team will never get bought by a billionaire, and everyone else will price you out of the market for big-name signings.

EDIT:

Anyone know if they've changed they've changed the way you organise your match-day squads, I prefer the way that the Ultimate Team team management screens are laid out, where you can see the chemistry between the players, and is there the ability to have multiple squads within a club, for example you could set it so that you had your 'First XI' and then a 'Carling Cup XI' (I try and pick a side packed with youth players whenever I play a league cup match)

Just a thought, is the feel of gameplay with FIFA differ with the console and the PC [w/ controller]. Or are they the same? From videos, FIFA on the PC seems too Pro Evo with the flow.

Cause' most likely I'll be picking up FIFA 12 on both the console and PC.

Fifa 11 on the PC is basically Fifa 10 console, with some WC 2010 features added - I haven't played Fifa 11 console that much, but from what I could see, it was slower and more measured than Fifa 11 PC. Of course, this year we'll finally be able to compare the three versions properly. :)

I'm pretty sure that multiple squads are possible in Fifa 12 - but unfortunately, the archaic way of moving players around the formation on the editing screen is also still going to be there; why can't they design it like PES'? Click on player, move player, drop player. Done. No faffing around with multiple menus and saving it as a separate template!

Loving this career mode vid:

I'm hopeful that the 'player' section of CM is improved as well - he said they're looking to create a more realistic management sim whether you're a player or manager. :D

One thing FIFA 12 will seal my pre-order... Ultimate Team FOR PC!!!!

that's enough for me. tq.

Here are the most important points made about Career Mode so far:

1. MEDIA INTERACTION

An option will appear on the career mode hub allowing you to address the media before a game. Selecting that option will give you the ability to talk to the press about a variety of different things concerning the upcoming match.

You can talk about..

# Your team
# The opposing team
# The manager of the opposing team
# Any of the players likely to be selected for the match
# Previous results between your team and the opposing team (providing you've played them already)

You can "praise" or "unsettle" the opposition with your selected comments.

The media will publish a story in the press and that story can have an effect on the players, this effect will be subtle however.

The "talk to the press" option will only be available for important games

2. INJURIES

# Bigger variety of injuries, true injuries
# You can bring a player back from injury early.

3. COMMENTARY

The commentary will now reflect your season, this will be intertwined with storylines to create a "holistic" experience.

4. TRANSFERS

# The value of each individual player is more realistic, Simon Humber has finely tuned the values.
# Potential now factors into a players market value, some players will be more expensive based off their potential.
# The values are designed to mirror real world values, goalkeepers and defenders will be less expensive than attacking players ect.
# The CPU is a lot more aggressive
# The CPU will bid on players who aren't transfer listed, so you'll find yourself having to fend off their offers.
# The bids you receive will be much more in line with the worth of the player
# The CPU's offers will fluctuate above and below the players value.
# There's a higher chance that the CPU with return with an offer if you reject them.
# You can stall CPU offers to buy yourself time, their offers will remain valid for a number of days
# Bids are not limited by your budget.
# Loans will now come with the option to purchase
# Promotion rewards you with a larger transfer budget
# Transfer deadline day is now apart of the transfer window

Which leads me to..

5. TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY

Transfer deadline day is a very special day. The transfer window is open for a final 8 hours on this day and clubs are looking to seal those last minute deals. Because of the added urgency, some clubs might be willing to spend more to acquire a player.

On transfer deadline day the career mode hub will mutate into a brand new hub, a broadcast-style hub from which you can manage your transfers. The hub will display the total amount of money that has been spent on transfer deadline day, the hub will also display each and every transfer. This information will be updated as you progress through the hours.

6. YOUTH ACADEMY AND SCOUTING

# You can hire a total of 3 scouts
# Regions can be assigned to each of those individual scouts
# You can scout by position.. CM, RW, ST ect.
# Initial scout reports will be vague, you'll have to scout a player multiple times to access all of the available information
# Projected ratings are included in the reports, the accuracy of these ratings will increase with each report
# If you scout a player for too long another club may come along and offer him a contract
# Once you've purchased the player he'll be added to your youth academy, from there you can track his development

7. STORYLINES

# There's 25 different storylines in total

Looks to me that slowly but surely, Fifa is being dragged kicking and screaming, towards being a decent management game as well as football game.

So there isn't a fully able Youth Academy in the game? Just one for those you bring in via your scout?

Career mode sounding sweet, I like how it's simpler than something like Football Manager but still really deep.

Hopefully they change the gameplay a bit too.

That's what I like as well - I've always wanted Fifa to move towards a deeper management mode, hopefully this is the year it happens. FM is a bit too deep for me, what they're doing with Fifa 12 sounds just right. :)

A little snippet from the EA forums:
I guess UNSETTLED is one the Storyline out of 25 storyline that we are gonna have this year.
I just found it out in the new vid about Commentators.

Storyline - "Unsettled"

1st Scenario:-

Commentator 1- The Player is rumored to be unsettled, despite outside interest he has decided to stay
with the club and he is playing today.

Commentator 2- Here he is, the man at the center of speculation for weeks, and the fans are delighted
to hear that he's decided to stay with the club. A great reception for him today.

2nd Scenario:-

Commentator 1- The Player is rumored to be unsettled, despite outside interest he has decided to
stay with the club he is on the bench today.

Commentator 2- The manager decides to keep his former headache on the bench today, but the fans
are relieved to hear that he will remain their player for the foreseeable future.

3rd Scenario:-

Commentator 1- The Player is rumored to be unsettled, despite outside interest he has decided to
stay with the club; the manager is not playing him today, this is mentioned by the commentators early on during a lull in the match.

Commentator 2- The manager decides to keep his former headache player out of the squad today,
but the fans are relieved to hear that he will remain their player for the foreseeable future.

4th Scenario:-

Commentator 1- The Player is rumored to be unsettled, he has finally made the decision to leave the club after a long saga (the camera focuses on him during introduction)

Commentator 2- Here's a surprise. The man who finally come out and said he doesn't want to play
for the club, is playing for the club today. He is going to face a hot reception and who knows how it will affect him.

I am confused about the 4th scenario though.

I am quite excited about Storylines. What about you?

Yeah, I'd say I'm quite excited too. :)

As long as it isn't flawed or influences form/overalls in a negative way (a la player ratings in Fifa 10), in relation to gameplay, sounds like a good component.

Yeah, not too sure about the 4th scenario. It probably refers to the player leaving, yet hasn't left yet.

My take on it is that he is unsettled and is going on about leaving, but today has decided to play (maybe to say goodbye to the fans - or maybe because he thinks it will affect how potential clubs see him) and he's likely to get both barrels from the fans. Of course, that should depend on his history with the club.

It all sounds very intriguing either way and is sure to add depth to the game. :) Come the autumn, F1 2011 and Fifa 12 will be duking it out to see who gets the most playtime on my system!

I know it should be but is Ultimate Team for PC confirmed yet? I've pre-ordered this one.

From what I understand, everything that's in the console version besides Arabic commentary, slow loading times and inferior graphics :D will be in the PC version.

And now... behold the Fifa 12 Gamescon Trailer!
