Final: Netherlands v Spain, Sunday 11 July 2010 at 18:30 GMT

I am So soooo happy Right now :banana2,Ned Doesn't Deserve to win .So much Tackle fake Diving .That Kick In chest was Awful to Watch,(That was A clear Red card.).you cant Stop the Magic of skill an Talent with Tackles
So :banana2........

Spain certainly created a lot of chances in the match but never capitalized until that last one. Netherlands had some chances and really needed to take them since they weren't creating too many. Lastly can't believe the amount of yellow cards given, it had come to a point where you would expect a yellow card to come out.

I must say, watching Spain against Germany was some of the best football I've seen for a while. They deserve it.

Congratulations to Spain for becoming World Champion.

Hopefully this will be the last we will see of Webb. He already refereed the Champions League final and World Cup final, so that's enough of him. He made a lot of mistakes in this match.

Man of the Match is Iniesta, but it should have been Casillas. He stopped two of Robben's chances. Maybe also Puyol, who stopped Robben with his hand, risking a second yellow, when Robben went through to the goal.

Havent really enjoyed this game but kudos to Spain for getting the job done. As a neutral I was supporting both the teams from the start of the WC but as the match went on the more inclined I was towards A Spain victory. Iniesta was superb, made some decednt runs but finished the job when it mattered. Lovely keeping from Casillas he was simply outstanding against Robben. Fabregas was great when he came on too.

I think Webb has done an ok job, but both teams didnt make his life easier. He was reluctant to send off people which is both a good and a bad thing. A send off early on might have ended Hollands campaign way earlier, but in the end justice was done.

Holland have been blamed for negative tactics, but I personally thought they weren't. They pressed much more than expected, especially on the Spanish midfield which led to their aggressive nature. Okay, they were ridiculously dirty and half the team should've been sent off, but they didn't sit deep and let Spain come to them. Spain can outpass any team in the world, so there was no point competing there. They were much more direct than in other games and didn't dwell on the ball in their own half as much. They still did a lot though, and should've been more direct but they were much better than in any other games.

Their directness led to two brilliant chances for Robben, one of which he should've definitely scored. Robben and Sneijder impressed me defensively. Before the game I said Spain would exploit the fact that they don't track back but they were very good defensively. During the regulation 90 minutes Holland arguably produced more clear clut chances but in the end they got tired, and the Spanish passing brilliance coupled with the man advantage finally got the goal Spain at the end of the day deserved.

Congratulations Spain, truly worthy winners. Personally I would've liked to see Brazil v Spain in the final; by far and away the two best teams in the world in a game that would've surely been a classic. But Holland defended excellently as a team throughout the tournament although didn't show their full brilliance even at the end. Spain have to go down as one of the best sides of all time considering their unbeaten record and being European and World Champions.

Personally I thought David Villa deserved best player of the tournament. His goals were so crucial for Spain at times where they just couldn't find an opening and they were also some brilliant goals. Also Xavi completed 544 passes in this tournament with a pass completion rate of 81%, absolutely astonishing.

I forgot about the Octopus. He was right again. Anyway the surprising thing is that FIFA has placed a news article about it.

There is a lot of funny news in the article, like the Germans who want to make him into sushi, the octopus receiving death-threat emails, the Spanish ministers calling for bodyguards and want to transfer him to Spain for his protection. :laugh

Also German people sang anti-octopus songs.

Anyway, we won't be hearing anything soon from this Octopus. He is 2.5 years old and Octopuses have a maximal life of 3 year.

Maybe we will find at Euro 2012 another Octopus. :)

Van Marwijk is critising Webb and rightfully so.

About the Heitinga's yellow cards: first one was given to a foul against Villa. But he waited a minute before he did it. :laugh And he was pretty close to the action when Heitinga kicked at the starts, so why he didn't give it then?

About his second yellow: in slow motion you could easily see that Iniesta went to dive just as Heitinga had a touch on his shoulder. And then were many defenders around Iniesta.

When Robben was loose and Puyol grabbed him from behind Webb didn't dare to give him yellow, because he knew that would be the end of Spain.

I didn't expect Spanish players to play like this, but I am guessing they were desperate to win and make fake attemps like diving and screaming in agony when someone touches them barely.

That being said: De Jong deserved a straight red card for his kick on the chest on Alonso. Only way to save it from a red card could be explained that both players were going for the ball. Otherwhile there is no excuse.

The real "Gloden Generation" have won haa. Big up to other very talented spanish players of the last 10 years such as Raul, Guti, Joaquin, Vicente, Hierro, Morientes, Mendieta, Del Horno, Salgado, Luis Garcia, Valeron, Helguera who never won anything.
