30 goal season coming up tbh. Going to be a cracking signing I reckon.

You cannot be serious. ^^

What has suddenly turned Michael Owen into a world beater? You do realise he played in the same Real Madrid team as Figo, Guti, Zidane and Raul and managed 13 goals in 35 appearances?

Dunno. Just a hunch. Michael's a proven goalscorer, and he's getting alot of flak from all directions saying his career's over, but I feel this move could just rejuvinate his career and his reputation. Sir Alex doesn't often make a duff signing, and I don't think this will be one. He's a goalscorer, and given the amount of chances United make every game I can see him banging the goals in if he's given a chance.

As for the Madrid stats, in La Liga he made 20 appearances, 15 of them as Sub and still scored 13 goals, that's not bad going at all.

For a free transfer I suppose you can't go wrong. Utd can just sell him off and make some dosh next season if he's a flop. I think we could have got a better player but for a free I'm not complaining. Also now maybe we can spend some serious money on another winger (hopefully Ribery but I doubt it).

A bit injury prone as well, but he's a class player and would do well for us, if fit. Another of United's potential signings stole by Kenyon at the time.

I'd bid for him (Robben).

I have no problem with us getting Owen. He ain't gonna cost much and if he finds some form he'll be decent. Not like he'll be a bad influence for the Youngsters either.

Exactly. His experience will be priceless to them.

I wouldn't say 30 goals. Maybe fifteen, twenty tops. Gotta say though I am loving that new Utd kit!

No chance thanks to ZZ (yes Will, I know he works for Real.) And as you said, he didn't cost a penny so it's a win-win.

Seriously, something needs to be done about Real. There should be a set amount each club can spend on each transfer and a certain amount allowed for each window. How much is it now, ?150m? On three or four players? But, once again, no defenders...

Ferguson is obviously just replacing Saha like-for-like.

Seriously? Owen's a much better player than Saha in my opinion.

Edit: Rumours floating around that we're looking at Luis Fabiano as well...

Yeah I heard that, and Andre-Pierre Gignac. Gignac was one of the highest scorers in the French league last season.

Oh god. The only positive is it was a free however I'm thinking this is some Glazer plan to save the money they got from Ronaldo. Getting a past it crocked striker does not cover up the fact we still need at least 3 players.

No one cares about Melo. Go back to your spanish thread Vaughan.

Do you have no grasp of sarcasm whatsoever? I was referring to the injuries.

And for the record Saha is the better player anyway.

Good luck to Mickey Owen, lad. Hope he gets back to scoring cos tbh, we're too piss-poor for him. Who needs him when we've got Martins wanting to stay :D

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one, then.

Some people over the last couple of days have been seriously underrating Owen.

Damn that bloody Glazier family! Why did they have to come and interfere with our club? I've said it before, City and Chelsea get taken over and they're swimming in money. We get taken over and look what happens. Still, the rest of the league should be offering thanks to God that we didn't end up in a position similar to City/Chelsea because if we can compete (and beat) them now, what would it be like if we had our own little unlimited stack of cash one day?

Agreed! Remember, he was in a lousy team at Newcastle, yet he still scored about thirty goals, injuries and all. What's that then, a goal every three games? Not bad, considering how many games he played. I am looking forwards to seeing him hook up with Rooney again.

What do you guys think of the new Utd shirt? I love it, personally. This'll be the last AIG one though, won't it?
