Football Transfers Thread

Well I'd rather United get rid of Rooney than Berbatov. I dislike Rooney and I reckon he's overrated despite being a Utd supporter myself. Hernandez is gun though and one of my favourite footballers atm.

Sell Rooney? Are you sure you're a Utd fan and not a Liverpool/Man City agent? :spy

No, I'm not :p I just really dislike Rooney.

Well Charlie Adam is Liverpools best central midfielder obviously :p

United should sign Aquilani now (just cause I like him)

Look at this way, more center midfielders for you guys means more adequate backups.

Actually I forgot to add Poulsen in that list which makes it 8 CMs! What about our wingers then? Backup enough? We surely can't do another season with players like Maxi, Joe Cole! :( Plus, Jovanovic is all but done and dusted to Olympiacos.

I see where you got that from. :p

Maxi on the left and Henderson on the right. Done. :p

OR

Suarez on the left and Kuyt on the right as inside forwards. Options. :p

You mean the guy that finally found some form in the last part of the season and scored 7/8 goals in the last 3 games? And the guy who also happens to have my favourite current football chant?

Meireles(?), Lucas, Gerrard, Spearing, Aquilani, Adam, Henderson.

Gerrard is rubbish, Spearing is still young and Aquilani is constantly injured. So now you only have 5. Henderson is also still young so personally I think you are alright.

Gerrard is rubbish

Wowwww!:clap

Yeah the very same guy who was BS for the reminder of the season. How can one even judge a guy based on three games, let alone 4 of 'his' 7 goals were just mere tap-ins?

Come on, Gerrard obviously isn't rubbish, but Liverpool won't get 30 games out of him next season and so they need all the back up they can get. Gerrard and Adam would be a formidable central partnership but I'd stick him out on the left and put Adam and Merieles together in the middle.

Tap ins or not, a goal is a goal. It's another one in the goal column you don't get additional goals or points for scoring screamers. He had to be there in that postion for the so-called tap ins so he must have been doing something right.

Yeah so, wasn't basically every player rubbish in the first half of the season under Hodgson? Just because it might have taken Maxi longer to settle down under Daglish doesn't mean you should kick him out when he was clearly valuable in the run in.

Your Maxi miss plays this;

Maxi is a good player, I'm not sure how you don't see it. I mean these are some pretty impressive tap ins!

lol sometimes its more than just scoring goals for your team, consider David N'gog for example, that guy had a dream start to the season's campaign with 6 goals coming off his first 4 games (the one against Arsenal in Liverpool's pipe opener would even do Kenny proud!), only to fall down the pecking order as time passed and upon Kenny's arrival. Maxi just about falls into that very same category, his secondaries are woeful for a winger - loses the ball far too often, neither is he a good dribbler, his vision is poor, I could go on and on. Anyway let bygones be bygones, will be interesting to see if he can cling on to his place in the starting XI for the new season, which I truly doubt big time.

Out of curiosity, how was this even supposed to be relevant in keeping him at Merseyside?

Well, these are the players that have supposedly been told they are "surplus to requirements" at Anfield- Paul Konchesky, David Ngog, Chris Mavinga, Christian Poulsen, Alberto Aquilani, Milan Jovanovic, Philipp Degen, Emiliano Insua, Danny Wilson, Brad Jones and Joe Cole.

It's unfortunate that Aqua is in there because he's all class when he's on top of his game. However, I don't know that he'd get too many chances if he did stay with Gerrard, Lucas (who everybody has forgotten about after Adam and Henderson signing... he was Liverpool's player of the season fyi), Henderson and Adam.

It's also unfortunate that Maxi isn't there. He's riding on those tap ins that really, anybody could have put in. He almost made a mess of some of them. Liverpool just had all the luck going their way after Kenny came in and they were usually deflected goalwards. He can't pass, he can't shoot, he can't cross, he lacks pace, vision and makes some very poor decisions on the field. He's very average and I'd be happy to see him gone.
