I still cant get over how Wenger didn't make getting Given a priority. If i where a Gunners fan i would be screaming right now. Everyone knows what area's Arsenal need to improve on - established keeper, strong central defender, defensive mid-fielder replacement for Diaby and left-back.

Arsenal have a fine young keeper in Szczesny, though.

Anzhi.

Seems like Barcelona are closing in on Cesc.

'Anzhi'. Of course, Mr Eto'o is going there for the glory of playing for such a big team, eh? Yeah right. Another example of a money grabbing mercenary; how much is he getting? ?300K a week??? Three bloody hundred??

Can't really blame him haha. If he sees out his whole contract he'll earn 60m apparently. You'd be mad to turn that down.

But it's not as though he's coming to the very end of his career, is it? Why not move to a big club? I mean, isn't ?100K a week enough for these people? Seriously, come of it Eto'o.

Yeah i have the same view. He's hardly near his end of his career and he preferred a move for big money than competitive football which is somehow not the perfect move on the cards. He'll go to Anzhi and they'll still finish around mid of the table at best. If Anzhi were trying to Emulate what USA and Brazilian clubs did to get star players to their clubs, 1. They've done it too early 2. Eto'o's career would go to a waste in these 4 years. They've got it all wrong.

Inter are losers too. They think they can sell couple of their stars and find good replacements, they're taking everything granted off all this. All they would do now is get 60m and shell it out on unprepared players.

I think Inter are getting a great deal out of it. A huge sum of money for a player, who has accepted this is probably going to be his last contract. Eto'o was also on a very high wage and that's been freed up now. I don't think a direct replacement is absolutely crucial when you consider that they have Milito and Pazzini who are natural goalscorers, and then they have Pandev, Alvarez and even Coutinho as back up.

Who wouldn't take 300k a week? You will never be in that position (as a footballer) so it's easy to say that it's wrong and that he shouldn't have done it but that's a massive amount of money. It's unreal and he'd be a fool to say no to it.

And tbf, he doesn't really have anything left to prove at club level.

I'd be surprised if he sees out his contract at Anzhi though.

Totally agree with that. Club football is a business at the end of the day and if you get a good offer from another club, you would want to consider it.

Also I always support big players moving to clubs outside the main regions of Europe. The game has to continously develop all over the world and this is one (albeit expensive) way of doing it.

Not sure if it was already mentioned here, but Piatti has joined Valencia this summer from Almeria, and already looks to be a great acquisition for Los Che.

Inter need to "refresh" their squad and by this they'll be doing exactly that. I don't think unprepared is right word, but they need to sign some young guys. I was really impressed with Joel Obi and Ricardo Alvarez in the Italian Super Cup, and think a couple of more below 25 signings will be a step in the right direction for them. At the same the exit of some of the old guys (like Eto'o) would be necessary to make space in the squad, reduce the wage bill and also probably generate funds.

Who knows? Maybe the Eto'o deal will allow Inter to retain Wesley Sneijder.

They need Tevez, that is for sure.

That is a terrific signing to say the least. Always wanted him at Pool (before securing Downing), his dynamism in the wing's just awesome. Never mind, Valencia is my favorite Spanish side, so I really don't mind him joining Los Ches. After all, they badly needed someone as a backup for Joaquin.

Regarding Inter, I would be somewhat surprise if Moratti decides to sell both of his key players in the same transfer window.

Going back to Sneijder - I don't think Sir Alex is too fussed whether we get him or not, and neither am I to be honest. The reason? Tom Cleverly. Sir Alex is the absolute master when it comes to judging the time to bring a youngster into the first team and I reckon he has done it again with Cleverly - I think he'll get a lot of game-time this season.

Yes, he's young so of course he'll make mistakes and have dodgy patches, but the class is there for all to see. Even now people are comparing him to Scholesy - we have to give him a season for me to decide on that; we'd have to be the luckiest club in the entire world to unearth a player anywhere near as good as Scholsey. :)
