Why Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has bought ?18m Ashley Young | Mail Online

4 players for 1 Indeed.

Yea is talented, but is nowhere near the finished article. Given would have been perfect for them.

Yep - Young is going to be a super player for Utd, he's already showing it. As for de Gea - well, he needs time to settle but the trouble is, mistakes by the keeper usually lead to a goal - so he has to settle and settle quick otherwise he may well find himself benched; this is Sir Alex we're talking about remember. ;)

FINALLY, the Fabregas transfer saga is officially over! Will be interesting to see what Arsene Wenger does with the money.

My guess is that he'll leech eight 15 year old prodigies from Barcelona's youth academy. After all, that is what is vintage Arsene Wenger. :rolleyes

On a serious note, he should bring in the likes of Mata and one or two experienced quality CMs to make up for Cesc's loss. Whatever happened with Jagielka's supposed move to the Gunners? Thought that would be a good addition too.

That's the million dollar question for Wenger.

Wenger has said he's definitely not going to sign Mata, which is a shame as he'd be very good. The Jadson deal looks to be completed soon. From what I've read he's more of a Nasri style player so should be good to see.

Loading up the bids for Modric again and surprisingly Juan Mata (the lulz, he's apparently been mooting a move to Stamford Bridge "all summer", hahaa. Gotta' love media transfer news).

Sigh, apparently its upwards of around 60 million for both. What UEFA fair play?

Who bothers? :p

Just hoping that we can conclude those deals quickly IF we ARE going to purchase them and not wait till the very last minute like earlier in January!

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani 'close' to AC Milan move - ESPN Soccernet

Badly want this deal to materialize, for its a win-win situation for me both as a Liverpool fan ($$$ plus he's surplus to our existing bunch of CMs) and as an Italy fan - chances of him making Italy's squad for next year's European Championships sores to the skies if he opts for a move to Italy, where he's guaranteed regular football.

Not long ago, Mata rejected a 20 million bid from us to pen a new deal with Los Ches, and now this... :facepalm

Arsenal are the ones who missed out most on not signing Mata. If they can utilise him properly it's a fantastic signing for Chelsea. They desperately needed a creative player. Personally think he's better centrally as a playmaker/forward, but he can play out wide as well.

Mata signs up for Chelsea. Couldn't be bothered if some official in Madrid's banging his head for letting him go.

Per..e..z....

Arsenal are well stocked in the forward areas. Mata would've been a much, much better alternative to splashing ?20m on Downing for 'Pool.

I think so yeah, he would've suited their style better. Dunno why Chelsea are bothering to get more forwards, they've got good load of quality upfront.

van Persie, Bendtner and Miyachi are the only strikers. Bendtner isn't good enough and Miyachi is still very young. Walcott and Gervinho are proper wingers but they also need playmaker wide players. If Nasri goes that only leaves Arshavin. I think Mata would've fit in very well as his movement is fantastic and he's a more direct player than say Nasri.
