Football Transfers Thread

Liverpool on deadline day:

Christian Poulsen -> Evian (Ligue 1)
Joe Cole -> Lille (Ligue 1). Lucky boy can play CL football now.
David N'gog -> Bolton (BPL)

Coincidentally enough, Evian & Lille lock horns during this weekend in Ligue 1.

Arriving on loan at Liverpool is Man City's Craig Bellamy. Good backup striker for Suarez & Carroll and most importantly, compensates for N'gog's loss.

Benayoun said:
I sign with arsenal, very happy and excited about it,but now my head is only in the game against grecce on friday, thanks for the support.

Also set for a switch to Arsenal are Mertesacker & Arteta. Can't hide my happiness regarding the departure of the latter from Goodison!

Two year deal done for Bellamy! Thought he was being loaned, but I'll take this alright. :)

Edit: Adios Raul Meireles. Signs a four year deal with Chelsea.

All of a sudden Arsenal have become strong. Will be interesting to see how the fare in this season with all their new signings. But they have lost Bendtner on loan. I guess Chamakh, Walcott and Gervinho are the only back-ups for Van Persie, but most likely Walcott and Gervinho will be playing out wide, so it leaves only Chamakh as a back-up.

Roma, Newcastle, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and United all seem to have one of their best transfer windows this season.

Chelsea have signed two really good players in Mata and Meireles. As I said, it'll be interesting to see how this season fares and how are the Spurs going to manage this season, despite the capture of Parker.

Certainly needed some better backs and they might have fixed that. Some handy signgins in the midfield, no superstar but better than nothing.

So, no Modric then. Daniel Levy is totally crazy to reject the reported ?40 million bid for him. He's never going to get another offer like that ever again!

Not a bad signing although there are plenty of different opinions from the Chelsea and Liverpool fans regarding this transfer.

The only thing that BAFFLES me is why on earth we loaned Benayoun to Arsenal?!! And of course, Kalou is still at the club! :facepalm

You forgot Park Chu Young and Benayoun, who can also play in the wide position.

You can probably include Stoke as well. Crouch will be looking to head in all those Delap's throw-ins! :lol

1. Manchester United
2. Manchester City
3. Arsenal
4. Chelsea
5. Liverpool
6. Tottenham

I'm pretty sure it'll end something like that now. Chelsea always seem to mess up at some point during the season, so I doubt they can challenge the Manchester clubs and I reckon with Arsenal's new signings they will probably be leapfrogged by Arsenal. It'll be close though. Tottenham aren't really looking good at all do better than before, especially with Modric's mind barely even in Tottenham. Liverpool have had a nice start to the season, though, anything could happen with them.

Certainly an interesting transfer window and an even more interesting deadline day. I mean, 4 Arsenal signings??? And like another 2 or 3 leaving as well??? Interesting. I just find it weird that Wenger didn't sign anyone from Marseille today or even anyone from France. Would've liked to have M'Vila though.

I'm sure it'll be a 5-horse race next season though. Tottenham still cannot challenge though.

The EPL is looking real exciting this year. La Liga just completely pales in comparison and Serie A dosen't look as interesting either.

Arsenal to finish above us? You gotta be kidding me. They may have bought good defenders in Mertesacker and Santos but the other three signings - Arteta, Benayoun and Park Chu Young - have hardly set the world alight. They may come in good but still don't think they are gonna finish above us even once they have all their players back from injuries and suspensions.

Also, we always seem to mess up at some point during the season? You must have confused yourself with Arsenal. Apart from that 'bad moment' we had last season, we don't mess our season up and certainly not like Arsenal, who always tend to collapse come the back end of the season.

Don't think Arsenal would finish 3rd, Chelsea have a stronger squad by the end of the transfer window, Liverpool could be ahead in the top 4 race.

Arsenal have gone for the best possible players to buy in the time they have, and there's too much research for buying players i think since Fab has left, add to that the late transfer of Nasri which left them inadequate and misguided side to their scouting. It looks like a half done puzzle right now but they still got a great squad, not taking away praises from them. Park is a brilliant signing never the less, Arteta, not sure how he'd fit in but he should make some impact while he gets his chances in the first XI.

Manchester United look to take the top flight once again, but I have a feeling Chelsea might flash their chances in the race.

Off topic (:p)

Sol campbell is training with Arsenal but no contract for him yet haha. His career is sort of messed since his one night stand with Notts. :P

Transfer Deadline Day – LIVE!

:lol

Yeah, Levy was foolish to turn that down. Even Fabregas was bought for a cheaper price I think.

Don't underestimate Chelsea thedon and Arsenal JBlues08.

Spurs have really had a poor transfer season. They lost Woodgate, Hutton, Jenas, Crouch, but they atleast signed Adebayor and Parker.

----------

Forgot to add Palacios to the list.

----------

Again forgot to add Keane, O'Hara.:p

I know. Was just making those points based on what usually happens in recent years.

By the way, here's a pop quiz; When was the last time Arsenal finished above Chelsea in the league? No cheating! :p

2003/04 season, the last time they won the Premier League. Since then, we have pretty much finished ahead of them every time.

That was the best football season ever a club had. Being unbeatable.

There were so many good players at that time. Gilberto Silva, Vieira, Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Toure, Lehmann and Ashley Cole.:p
