Football Transfers Thread

I think too much is being expected of Cleverley. Yeah he showed talent in the games he played, but he didn't play many games. He was injured for the majority of the season and you can't base your expectations of him on a month period.

Well, no one's going to do him any favours if they start calling him 'the new Scholes'. He looks a very promising player - but Scholes is almost a living legend, Cleverley will do well to be half as good as Scholesy.

I can't imagine how you guys would have pronounced Huntelaar's name in real life:lol.

It's Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Playing Cleverley seems the only option at this stage, with the lack of a ball winner. It's very Wenger like for anyone to put that much faith into a young player, so maybe he will be replaced, but in any case, if Modric is not available, I reckon a cheaper option is the way to go.

Striker not at all needed. Welbeck, Rooney, Hernandez in the one spot, Kagawa and Rooney in the other. Maybe a cheap young player to play as third or fourth choice wouldn't be bad.

Plus I think Nani may leave too, he definitely needs replacing. Big money needed for this, someone like James Rodriguez.

So a lot of places to improve. You can't do it all. It should be in this order:

1. Ball Winner
2. RB
3. LB
4. Playmaker
5. Attacker

And btw, for those who don't know, Kagawa isn't playing in central midfield. He is playing behind the striker like at Dortmund, perfect for him. So Rooney should push up.

I hear a swap deal is possible...

Sahin and money for Modric. Brilliant piece of business for Spurs if true. I hope it doesn't happen though as they may still be decent then:spy.

I believe Modric has already agreed personal terms with Madrid too, so looks set for Madrid.

Plus, Sigurdsson to Spurs is looking likely too, damn:lol.

Sahin moving to Spurs would be brilliant.

Seems like Jovetic is closing on a move to Chelsea, don't know really where he would play if he does move.

My guess would be right behind the main striker, bit like Rooney for Utd.

Jovetic on the left, Mata on the centre and Hazard on the right seems like the way to go.

I don't know whether Jovetic can play on the right flank, I haven't watched Serie A in ages.

Same here, I don't know much about Hazard either.

But yes, that's the way go if they were to acquire Jovetic.

I doubt Hazard can really play well on the right.

Plus what about Hulk?

Early days yet though, anyone could move to Chelsea still.

Yakubu is a decent player. He didn't get the right team to help him, more like Adebayor when he's in top form. I'd be glad if Hoilett moves out to a proposed M'gladbach offer, he's a star in the making.

Adebayor is a hack, only reason he ever does well is he has great midfielder(s) around him.

Fabregas is the only reason he scored 30 goals for us. He is a lazy player who thrives on tap-ins. Not hard to see as well that he did OK this season with guys like Modric and Bale in his team.

Yakubu is a far better player in almost every respect, expect speed. Though due to his laziness, you don't see Adebayor's pace much. Apparently when he was with us he was faster than Walcott over 50 metres.

Great signing for Monchengladbach too, good for Hoilett as well, if the move goes through. Chance of CL football, and he should have a starting spot too with the departure of Reus to Dortmund. Wouldn't be too bad at Spurs or Liverpool either if he wanted to stay in England. Could easily displace Lennon or Downing. Also we would take him with open arms, if he is the sort of player who is better with better players around him, could displace Walcott as well.

Don't know about easily displace Lennon. On form Lennon should have been playing right wing for England but injuries have been a bitch for him this year.

Adebayor is a hack indeed. He did a job as he's better than Crouch was, but he should score 25 goals a season.

Is he eligible for England? If so, then I'd love to see him go abroad - some exposure to day in, day out European style football can't do a young English player any harm. :)
