Football Transfers Thread

However much getting in a quality striker might have cost Spurs during this window, it will be less than the financial hit of missing out on 4th and the inevitable exodus at the end of the season :(

I sense another second half of the season bottle settling in :facepalm

Not really, all his wages from PSG will go to charity.

I hope he retires at United, couldn't get any better if he does come back.

Everyone always likes to slate Beckham, but the reality is the guy has always played football because he loves playing football. He has also put his family first and continues to be a pretty decent role model from a sporting spectrum that produces so few. Fair play on giving his wages to charity as well, and really it's not entirely his fault the media spend most of their time desperately trying to fill their pages with rubbish about him.

Anyway, what price Barton breaks his leg?

Yeah - I found that out a short while after making my post. Fair play to Becks, but yeah it would be great if he could have one last stint at Utd - he should never have left to start with.

You are Spurs. Best bottlers in world football. It is bound to happen.

Great to see Monreal at Arsenal. He is a brilliant player. I've been wanting him for a while and thought he was actually more of a Man Utd level LB than Arsenal once, so really there isn't another LB other than maybe Baines that I would've rather we got. If he settles in well he should displace Gibbs and be one of the best in the league, which should happen with Arteta and Cazorla at the Emirates. Otherwise he will be a good back-up.

No more Santos:D.

I think the media have been quite quick to make it look worse than it actually was and I think WBA have been more than happy to put the boot in. I think the other side to the story is he was advised to travel to London in case of any transfer negotiations and in the event the two clubs agreed he'd be able to take his medical and sign contracts in time.

I know a lot of people say it, but agents really are ruining football. For them, their big paydays rest in convincing players to move so they can take their cut. Most of them are nothing but parasites with their own bank accounts their only real concern.

Speaking of transfers, i reckon United come the summer should look to get these players:

keepers: Either, Begovic, Julio Cesar or fraser forster, since niether de gea or lindegaard convinces me. Either three could be a proper long term option. If Cesar keeps us this form, we know what he is capable of. He is a big club keeper & whether qpr stay up or not, i reckon he would be very tempted by a united bid.

Forster just because he is talented young english keeper.

mid-field: wynyama or capoue. Newcastle superb scouting in recent years of france makes me surprised united haven tapped into yet. Sissoko for 2 million is a great steal. United need a hard tackling mid-fielder & i wonder if someone like etienne capoue couldn't be a rough diamond waiting to be bought.

wynyam also based on his exploits for celtic in the c-league.

Modric is the outside option. He hasn't really settled in madrid & if there season continues to collapse - he could be tempted back by a united bid. He is one of few players in the world still, that is clear like-for-like long term replacement for Scholes.

I'd hate to see any sort of competition for De Gea. He could be immense later on, and taking away his time could just mess up things.
