Football Transfers Thread

You'd think most football fans would have at least a decent grasp of the process of transfer negotiations.

Just that I didn't read the content earlier and then found out that there was nothing like any clause or something, but only that Fabregas was not on sale. My bad.

Yeah, after the Thiago debacle, there's no way they're letting Cesc go.

On the topic of Tito, it's not gonna be for long he's out, most likely somebody is rumoured to come on an interim basis..

Its a no-brainer really, Barca have just lost Thiago to Bayern, they're not just going to sell off their "midfield of the future" in 1 summer.
It's rumoured Pep tried to offload the underperforming Pique and Fabregas before he departed.

While they obviously need him now, I don't think he is as highly regarded in the Barca setup as most neutrals like to think.

Football is crazy, Don. Never write anything off. IIRC, you were pretty confident RvP would say NO to United and sign with City instead, last year...

Wenger confirmed we have a clause in there, so basically if anyone is interested and Cesc wants to leave, we get first refusal. In any case, would Cesc rather play for his 'second father' as I believe he called him, or David Moyes? Considering how cheap Barca got him, chances are there are more clauses in there ensuring we either get him or a large sum of money if he leaves. They also still owe us money from the transfer.

Part of the RVP move was he got to play with Ferguson, you really think RVP would've moved to Man Utd to play for David Moyes last season? In any case it was just me believing that RVP wouldn't be such a snake so as to move to Man Utd, in reality seeing the club's selling record there was every chance they'd just sell to the highest bidder.

In any case, Fabregas worked very hard to get to Barca and Barca worked hard to get him there, what with all the tapping up. He isn't going to give up after just two seasons and go back to England, especially with Thiago gone and Xavi looking like he'll be past it soon enough.

The club on the other hand don't value him as highly as you'd think, it is Barca so when someone is underperforming they'll have no problem replacing them with their new toy. Fabregas is old news now. He may be valuable to them now, but over the next season or two who really knows.

Roma's Marquinhos set for 35 million PSG move - ESPN FC

?35m for a 19 year old CB... I do hear good things though, and ofc, Barca were interested as well.

Too bad uncle Raf's not for hire. :p

Brilliant player but that is absolutely insane money. He has all the attributes to become the best CB in the world later in his career though so it may turn out a good deal for them.

Christian Benteke commits future to Aston Villa - ESPN FC

Withdraws transfer request and signs 4 year deal, what more can you ask for! :clap

:lol

It was unlikely Villa were going to sign someone better so this is huge for the club and their young squad. Some stability and some wise additions and they will finish mid-table comfortably this season. I like what Lambert is doing.

Along with Jovetic being an arsenal signing for the last 3 years.

Has never been the case, we were supposedly very close to him early this window and were looking at him in previous windows but never did much with him.

This happens a lot with us, we have so many made up rumours it's insane. According to reports, in the last three years we've had guys like Mata, Alvarez, M'Vila and more recently Higuain as done deals but they've never come to fruition.

while it's awful to say, it's a blessing in disguise for barcelona. horrible thing to happen to the poor guy (I've had cancer, it's not pretty) but he was inexperienced and wasn't getting the best out of the players. his tactical approach seemed based around getting people to remember what pep had told them.

I think one of the best signings Utd could make this summer given the available targets, is Felliani. We should get a move on and sign him up before the date on his clause ends, if it hasn't already done so. We need a defensive midfielder more than anything; Felliani fits the bill perfectly, has worked with Moyes before, and is also a real aerial threat.

So glad to hear you beat that goddamned disease. :thumbs :clap

His squad rotation was also quite horrible, if he ever did rotate his players.

Seems like Martino (he's the former Newell's manager, and was also quite good with Paraguay) is the favourite to take over, his record so far has been quite good, although I don't have a clue as to how his teams play.:p
