Friends Provident Trophy 2008

Somerset beating a Hampshire side including KP by 5 wickets or so tonight. Somerset chased down 280 with Zander de Bruyn on debut proving me slightly wrong, but more importantly, James Hildreth 112* off of 90 balls. He should be the next in line for the England middle order in both forms of the game.

not seen to much of James Hildreth but heard good things about him, and hes still young, good knock for him today!

Nice to see KP hitting 62 aswell, even if Hampshire lost. Hildreth's definitely one for the future. He's been in the England set-up previously though, almost certain that he ran someone out in the 2005 Ashes, just that Gary Pratt's run-out of Ponting is more famous.

Ackerman gets another 100! thats 2 in FC games where he's averaging 75 and in his first OD game he gets one as well. Not a bad start to the season :D Hopefully he'll continue his good form and have a season like he did a couple of years agom smahing all the clubs records again. Admittedly this one was only against Ireland but their bowling is not bad at all.

We win :D Allenby did well taking 4-44 off his 10 and hitting 62 off 76. Good day for him and Ackerman.

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

get in, back of the net and over the rope!!!!!!

6 needed with 1 ball to go, up steps Steve Croft, yet another good young player from lancashire, over the rope! lanc win! who needs the IPL!

Good match today down at Hove. Kent bowled poorly again but Sussex's total looked maybe a little short. Typical Kent reply, did it the hard way, crossing the line with one ball to spare. Tbh throughout the entire match it wasn't clear who was going to win this one.

Whoever said 50 over cricket was one sided should come and watch Kent play oneday cricket sometime!

and who ever said that 20 over cricket is better than 50 over cricket should take a lok at some of the games today

Was a very enjoyable game of Cricket, no batsman really got a hold of the game, Kemp made 68* and was MoTM. I thought Wright had a good game, he slipped during a run and was run-out for 35. Took 3-65, going for 18 in his last over, the penultimate over of the game, which decided the fate.

As Kev said, we were about 30 runs short, probably 50 if the Kent bowlers could bowl within the tramlines!
