The Match

Old Xavierians were in control for the first half an hour or so but it was East Manchester who opened the scoring, Entwistle putting a cross in where Williams made a really poor clearance which ended up at Lockyer's feet inches away from the goal and he tapped it home to give his side the lead. From then on, East Manchester dominated in the half but went into half time with a 1-0 lead. Possession was slightly in favour of East Manchester and they had a few more chances to score as well. In the last 15 minutes of the half, Old Xavierians had trouble keeping the ball and their passes completed percentage was only 60%. They needed to regroup for the second half.

Ide was taken off for Squires going into the second half. Just under 20 minutes into the second half, Robinson who was already on a yellow decided to trip Agwu and the referee awarded a free kick and showed him his second yellow card so he was sent off. They were down to 10 men with a 1 goal deficit. It was going to be tough for them. Lockyer had a wonderful chance, one on one with the keeper but he put the ball over the bar so it was still 1-0. Adamson was brought on for Agwu after that and maybe we could increase the lead to 2 goals.

Time was running out for Old Xaverians as there was only 10 minutes left to score an equalizer. O'Grady had the perfect chance to do so but somehow missed the target and the chance was wasted. It was down to 5 minutes but they still couldn't find a goal. They couldn't score in the last 5 minutes and East Manchester clinched promotion and moved up into Tier 10. The second half didn't bring many chances to score and it didn't help by the sending off of Williams but I guess it's "Better luck next time" for Old Xaverians. East Manchester will be promoted.

So promotion from Tier 11.

How will East Manchester fare in Tier 10?

Will they continue winning?

Or will they go straight back down?

Find out next season.

Great effort Hedger, and well presented as well. I must admit, you are doing this story really well.. been good to read. Congratulations on promotion as well. Tier 10 shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah. I have set expectations to Top Half finish but bookmakers have been predicting me at 1-5 to win the league but it didn't really mind me as my Transfer budget was the same no matter what expectation (1.5K and it doesn't even matter since I'm not allowed to make any transfers until this club takeover settles down) and the wage budget was 1K for top half while only 1.1K for promotion and I am under my wage budget by around .5K.

Hedger Signs New Contract

After winning the Manchester Football League with East Manchester, the East Manchester Board had decided to offer him a 3 year deal. Hedger who already had a year left in his contract due to expire in June 2011 signed a 3 year deal worth 190 pounds to keep him at the club until 2013. As the 30th June has already passed, out of contract players/staff will be free transferred out.

East Manchester's expired contracts were:

Craig Kennedy
Mark Osbourne
Andrew Butcher
Darren Keely
Ricky Maclaren (Scout)

They will now be looking to sign some free agents as Hedger is not allowed to make any transfers in until talks of takeover are diminished.

Great effort their Brendon, really nice to see you win and promote to the tier 10 as Champions. Hopefully you have an equally good season in tier 10.
