Story FTP: A Team Diary

Gambhir and Sehwag give Western Wanderers a great start

Makwana won the toss and elected to bat on a green pitch. Sehwag and Gambhir didn't mind though as they flew off to a good start knocking the ball around for singles and 2's. It took 7 over's however to hit the first boundary as Fieibig misfielded a Gambhir drive and it raced away for 4. Noone knew what Black was trying to do though at the end of the 9th over but it looked like he was trying the googly and Sehwag sent it for 6. So after 10 over's, Western Wanderers are 59/0. Kwistel has been the better bowler with 23/0 from his 5 while Black has conceded 35 runs from his 5. Hedger's Team need a wicket soon.

The wicket of Sehwag slows Western Wanderers down

Naeem got the important wicket of Gambhir in the 11th over, the first over he bowled. O'Leary started well, going at a run a ball. Tindall's 5th over was needed though as Sehwag hit it out to Lane and Sehwag was dismissed for 45, caught Lane, bowled Tindall. 2 balls later, Tindall got Singh, plumb in front of the wicket and the umpire had no hesitation is raising the finger. From then on, the run rate had significantly dropped. After 19 over's, Western Wanderers were 102/1, cruising along at a run rate of 5.37. Then Sehwag got out and O'Leary started to preserve his wicket and after 28 over's, Western Wanderers are 132/3 at a run rate of 4.71. The batsman are well set now and should start attacking a bit more.

Yogesh century helps Western Wanderers to high total

Tindall was the pick of the bowlers with 2/39 from his 10 over's. After 30 over's, Western Wanderers were 146/3. Kwistel got O'Leary trapped in front for 54 and it was a big wicket. Sangakkara was run out at the start of the 40th over for 13. Fiebig was economical and finished with figures of 0/23 from his 5 over's. Kwistel had finished with 1/44 from his 10 over's as well. With 10 over's to play, Western Wanderers were 192/5. Black was brought back into the attack and after conceding 2 four's, he got Virasana caught behind for 4. Yogesh then went on the attack to go into the 90's. Black got his second wicket, Singh going caught behind. Yogesh then hit a 6 to bring up his century and then hit a 4 to end a very expensive spell from Black. He finished with 2/94. Naeem got the wickets of Hashmat and Kumble in the last over to finish with 3/56 from his 10 but Tindall still was the better bowler bowling to the best batsman and getting 2 important wickets as well as being a lot more economical. It was a shocking start in the field for Western Wanderers as Miller was dropped by Hashmat on the second ball of the innings and Fiebig was dropped later in the same over by O'Leary. They could have been 2 wicket's down but they escaped. Miller went, caught behind of Singh for a duck. Byrne came to the crease and was off the mark first ball with a single. Byrne hit a single and Fiebig hit a 3 in the third over. After 3 over's, Hedger's Team were 6/1. They really need to keep up if they want to win.

Hedger caught by police

After RP Singh took 5 wickets as he demolished the Hedger's Team batting lineup, Hedger was caught paying $6,000,000 to a biker to kill RP Singh. RP Singh now has been given protection from anyone who tried to harm him. Hedger will be trialled at the end of the FTP Season so he will still be able to manage his team up until the end of the season. Fiebig and Makwana also had a fight after the game. It was a comment about Fiebig saying that he slept with Makwana's wife while he was batting. Makwana was offended by this and around half an hour after the match was completed, he punched Fiebig in the head 5 times before police broke the 2 up. Fiebig had also put a hit in. Both players could find a 1 match ban. We don't know what will happen yet anyway.

Yeh... I was also very socked when I knew this. But I don't think you should kill RP Singh for his 6wickets once again. Leave that. :p

And I got the mail from FTP that both players Makwana and Fiebig may be banned for one match both manager wants... ;)

Western Wanderers have 1-0 lead in this series. Can they take it 5-0 ?

Shaney Warne injured and will miss current season.

Shaney Warne has been ruled out of the current season in FTP after shoulder injury in training session. He will be replaced by Alok Abedin, who was in good touch in Youth Matches. Abedin, who have played 11 youth matches and taken 9 wickets. He might make his OD debut.

Warne said he picked up the injury during the training session and he would show it to a specialist in London. "There is little I can do," Warne said. "If Warne has got pain in the hand, he might not bowl," Makwana said. "Today he tried and he was in some discomfort. Tomorrow, we will take a final decision on him."

Under normal circumstances, the loss of Warne, a proven match-winner in any form of the game, would be a massive blow to Wanderers's strategy. But there is only one OD match remain in current season and Warne will return to club at next season start.

Hedger's Team set Western Wanderers a huge total

After being bowled out for 71 in the opening OD match against Western Wanderers, there was a huge turn around, Lane and Byrne scoring fast centuries as Hedger's Team managed 352/4 from their 50 over's which is a total that can be easily defended. With Shaney Warne out injured, it was going to be a bonus. RP Singh couldn't get any wickets despite taking 5 wicket hauls in both the T20 and first OD match. Maybe the prospect that he would be brutally killed made him shaky in today's match. Fiebig went early in the third over to bitter rival, Shakti Makwana. Byrne and Miller put on a 90 run partnership before Miller was dismissed for 24 while Byrne was unbeaten on 56. The 174 run partnership between Byrne and Lane was very important. Kumble got the wicket of Byrne, LBW for 120 off 124 deliveries. Lane after getting to his hundred was deadly, hitting 22 runs in 5 balls before a huge mixup meant he was run out, 2 balls later for 141 off 101 balls. Butler also hit 34* off 27 balls as Hedger's Team finished with 352/4. It will be a hard chase for Western Wanderers and the series could well be equalised after this match.

Other than Wanderer, I don't think I've had more than 5 comments in this whole story. Because of that, I will stop doing this story except for the series against Western Wanderers because I'm not wasting my time doing it if noone is following it other than 1 person. I'll stop it after the end of the season since I will be arrested for attempted murder on RP Singh.

 You will stop... Ok, it's your choise and that's good to follow own choises...

Best of Luck for other works... :p

Naeem takes 6 wickets as Hedger's Team level series

Western Wanderers were set a total of 353 to win. Gambhir and Sehwag got the Western Wanderers off to a good start before Sehwag went to Black for 29 off 25 balls and it was 65/1 after 8.5 over's. Naeem was brought on in the 11th over and got the wicket of Gambhir for 37 off 34 balls and it was 72/2. Naeem took his second wicket of Dugan 4 over's later and it was 98/3. Naeem struck again in his next over and Logan was out for 6. Dumaresq was brought on in the 21st and struck in the 23rd and Singh went for 18. Yogesh and Sangakkara tried to get the Western Wanderers back in the game but when Tindall took the wicket of Yogesh, it turned in Hedger's Team's favour. Yogesh scored 69 runs off 58 deliveries. Naeem was brought back on for his second spell and took the wicket of Virasana for 31 before Black got the wicket of Sangakkara for 52 off 53 and then Naeem got his fifth wicket and Kumble went for 2. Makwana tried to give his team a chance hitting 24* off 18 balls before Naeem got his sixth and Singh was out for 14. Western Wanderers finished 301 all out off 48 over's. Naeem was pick of the bowlers with 6/69 while Tindall was the most economical with figures of 1/48 from his ten. Lane recieved man of the match for his 141 off 101 balls.

MVP Points Standings: Jack Lane (3 points), Stephen Byrne (2), Farrukh Naeem (1)

Hedger's Team Awards Announced

After a good season for Hedger's Team, the manager 'Hedger' has announced the awards. He has made the following awards:
OD Batsman of the Year
OD Bowler of the Year
OD All-Rounder
OD Player of the Year
T20 Batsman of the Year
T20 Bowler of the Year
T20 All-Rounder of the Year
T20 Player of the Year
T20 Most Improved Player
Youth Batsman of the Year
Youth Bowler of the Year
Youth All-Rounder of the Year
Youth Player of the Year
Youth Most Improved Player
Senior Batsman of the Year
Senior Bowler of the Year
Senior All-Rounder of the Year
Senior Player of the Year (Top award)

So the awards were announced by Brendon Hedger himself. This is what he said on the night.

Good to see you all here tonight. First of all, I'm sorry for the Youth players who didn't get a contract for the senior squad. Your work for the Youth team was good and we're sorry that we can't find you a spot at the club in the upcoming years.

So it has been a good year this year, Champions of One Day Div. 5.10 as well as finishing third in T20 Div. 4.7. The Youth team have also put in their best efforts in their league, and finished in 5th place in Youth League Div. 4.2. So I guess we should be onto the awards now.

So the first awards I will give out are for the Youth team. Batsman of the year goes to the captain, Murray Oldroyd for scoring 622 runs @ 77.75 as well as scoring 3 of the team's 4 centuries, Priyanka scoring the other century. Bowler of the year goes to Peter Desmazeures, who only played 10 of the 14 matches but still was the top wicket taker, with 17 wickets to his name @ an average of 18.47. Well done to Peter for that fine bowling performance. Now all-rounder of the year goes to Gavin Hele. He had a fine season scoring 456 runs @ 41.45 and took 15 wickets @ 34.47. Now the biggest award for the Youth players. It is the player of the Year. We have finally decided that this award will go to the captain, Murray Oldroyd. As well as being the best batsman, he took 22 catches and 2 stumpings behind the stumps. A great year for the captain, who is now in the senior squad. So this leaves the final youth award. The Most Improved Youth player. It was probably the hardest award to give so I have decided to give it to Cosmas Chinamasa who took 13 wickets this season. That is all the Youth awards given out and congratulations to all the players in the squad.

Now for the T20 awards. Batsman of the year goes to Stephen Byrne, scoring 864 runs @ 86.40 with 3 centuries. A great performance from the 22 year old. Bowler of the year went to Fred Tindall, who took 19 wickets @ 18.68. He had a great year. Only James Fiebig took more wickets but we thought it wouldn't be fair if he took that award as well but All-Rounder of the year goes to James Fiebig who scored 105 runs @ 26.25 and took 23 wickets @ 5.13 with best figures of 4/4. Player of the Year was too hard an award to give so I decided to have joint winners. The 2 players that are the joint winners are Stephen Byrne and James Fiebig. Most improved player is also Stephen Byrne who took who scored double the runs he did last season. He deserves this award. So that's it for the T20 awards.

So the Senior OD awards. I know I've taken a long time for the previous awards so I'll do these quickly. So batsman of the year was a tough one to give but I gave it to Jack Lane in the end. He scored 890 runs @ 111.25. Bowler of the year goes to Fred Tindall. He took 40 wickets @ 5.10, taking 1 five wicket haul and 8 three wicket hauls. All-rounder of the year goes to James Fiebig who scored 749 runs @ 62.42 and took 7 wickets, bowling some part time spin in the middle/late over's. OD Player of the Year has to go to Fred Tindall for his 40 wickets. He deserved that award. That's it for the One Day awards. The big awards are up next.

So these are the big awards. Senior batsman of the year is first. I had a long talk with the other staff at the club and it has been agreed that the award should go to Jake Miller. Jake scored 939 OD runs @ 78.25 and 158 T20 runs @ 22.57. Bowler of the year was pretty easy to give out with the award going to the stand out bowler in both forms of the game, turning 21 years of age a day or 2 ago, Fred Tindall. Taking 40 wickets in OD and 19 wickets in T20, he deserves the award. Hopefully he can keep up his good work. Senior All-Rounder of the year has to go to James Fiebig, the best T20 bowler and the third highest run scorer in OD to grab this award. But now comes the big award. The award is really only between Miller, Tindall and Fiebig and we had trouble separating them but we have decided to give it to Fred Tindall in the end. So congratulations to Fred Tindall for that as well as the rest of the team. A good season by all of you guys.
