That Bengal had won the toss and has elected to bat first. Our captain S.Chakraborty told us to play defensively and not to go for aggressive shots which may lead to a loosing of vital and important wickets. We all sat near the Television as the game was going to start. We saw S.Chakraborty and Sunondo leaving the dressing room and enter the cricket ground.

Commentator 1 :- Welcome to the match between Kerala and Bengal at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

S.Chakraborty was going to face the first ball and he was going to face P.Chandran:-

0.1 P.Chandran to S.Cha'orty, no run, That ball was a mystery to the batsman.

He just smashed one four in the first over.

0.5 P.Chandran to S.Cha'orty, FOUR, S.Chakraborty smashed the first four of the innings.

Commentator 2 :- What a way to get off the mark!

Sunondo was too face the second over.

He took a single in the first ball and gave strike to S.Chakraborty.

1.1 T.Yohannan to Sunondo, one run, The misfield by P.Chandran gives a run to Bengal.

S.Chakraborty couldn?t score a run and after the end of the 2nd

over Bengal were ? 5/0.

3rd over ? 10th Over

Sunondo took a single of the first ball of the 3rd over. S.Chakraborty smashed a four in the 4th ball of that over.

Sunondo smashed the first ball of the 4th over for a four. He again smashed a four in that same over. The 4th Over proved to be a little costly as Bengal?s score was 18/0.


In the 5th Over S.Chakraborty was out lbw of the bowling of P.Chandran

D.Das was the new man in. He was not in the best of form but he tried his best as he smashed two back to back 4 in that over.

In the 6th over just a single came from the bat of Sunondo.

I said to myself, ? I was so tensed as because it was my first match and also because the score for Team Bengal was 28/2.?

The captain said to me, ? Funknath don?t worry. Don?t get nervous if you can?t score as many cricketer like me, Sunondo had scored 0?s and 1?s in their debut match.?

That gave me some strength and calmly I went to the cricket field.

As I entered the center of the ground Sunondo said, ? Just give me the singles and I will take care of the match.?
