General Questions Thread

I never knew how to train. I sucked at BT a lot, and only really made big steps after season 3 or so. In my first 6 weeks, I gave 10 players one net each, and rotated it every week :p You n00bs are lucky you have us here to help you!!!

Sounds partly like me, first I hired more than 10 coaches and wondered why I could only get 10 coaching sessions, then I trained the wrong players for too long... After that I bough bad signings on the transfer market i.e. no secondaries or stamina. Luckily I got helped out and things started to progress.

Ok I got a bit of a problem.

My pitch is currently Cracked and I am playing at home tommorow. I want to bat first and I am hoping the pitch will crack up later so I can make use of bowling later on. My question is - should I bat or bowl first if I win the toss?

I don't think pitch deterioration has been implemented yet, but if you want to bat first then bat if you win the toss.

Ok thanks for that. I will defiently bat first. Hoping for a big score.

I need some advice

Mithil Hamed (1151697)
LH Batsman, LF Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, moderate
A steady player with worthless leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For: green gamers
Nationality: India
Age: 19 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 14,852 (+264)
Wages: ?2,721 p/w
Stamina: abysmal Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: proficient Concentration: respectable
Bowling: proficient Consistency: proficient
Fielding: mediocre

Should I sell him or not (he is my best player) and at what price.
Then at what no. should he bat and with what instructions like aggressive/normal/etc.
because even though he has nice skills his hieghest is 37*(opening)

His stamina is a problem, since you definitely want to bowl with him better to put him about 5 or 6. Normal should be alright as I find my guys with low stamina go alright like that, he has the batting skills to stay in for awhile and make runs.

if you can, get him on two stamina nets for the rest of the season, hopefully he can get to mediocre by then

Stamina is the reason why he isn't performing. He should do fine on Normal though, seeing as he is Steady.

I am changing my pitch from cracked to hard and fast. Would this be a good move if I want both my batters and bowlers to benfit?

Batters will definitely benefit, don't know about the bowlers just depends how they have gone previously on that pitch. My bowlers do alright on them nothing under 200 though.

See? Right there. Stamina. A fitness trainer improves it. For all your players, one fitness net will improve stamina by one level every 6 weeks and two nets will improve him every 4.

Battrick rules said:
Stamina - A players stamina is arguably his most important attribute. As a game goes on, players will tire. No matter how high his stamina skill, he will experience some reduction in his performance, but the extent to which his tiring is going to affect his performance will depend totally on his stamina. The higher the players stamina, the lower the tiring effect.

Not only does stamina have an effect on a players performance during a game, but also his recovery off the pitch. Players with higher levels of stamina will be able to carry more workload before their Personnel Fitness Level (PFL - discussed further on) drops, and their PFL will also recover quicker.

There is a limit to how high a players stamina can be though. Once he reaches superb stamina, no matter how hard he trains at his fitness, it will never go higher. There are limits to human performance!
As you can see there in the rules, if he has to bat, it will affect his bowling and vice versa. The more any player does, the more tired he gets. As a fast bowler, he has the greatest possible stamina requirement.

LH Batsman, LF Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, moderate
As I can see here, his Personal Fitness Level (high-lighted) is not very high. It will recover slowly over the course of the week, but it won't recover fully. You will eventually have to rest him to get his PFL back up so he plays at his best. As mentioned in the rules, this is an effect of low stamina - higher stamina means his PFL will be stronger.

When your player has good stamina, not only will his scores improve (although it is only early days; his scores will improve if you do nothing but manage his workload), but he will not slow down as much over the course of his innings. He will also give away less runs towards the end of his spells and be better at bowling in the death.

Definitely keep him in the middle order. Until he has good stamina, you want him batting only when your team needs it. Also, it's important to know where your players prefer to bat: you might find he likes the middle order more anyway.
