General Questions Thread

Started battrick again.. (the the 10th billion time) but I have to wait even though it says there is over 2000 available and I'm the only one waiting. sigh.

Oh wrong thread. Might as well make this into a question: shouldn't I get a team straight away!?!
I just started again too...cough...rivals....cough...we can be rivals...cough...rivals!

So yeah, I signed up and didn't get a team till 2 days later - you just have to wait if you choose to coach a team in Australia or England because the demand is so high for teams.

Yeah I got Ollie into Battrick and it took him nearly a week to get his team. I PM'd the Battrick admins and they said it was because of all the chaos of end of season stuff. It should be here within a few days, Matt :)

Don't worry about that.

I've tried playing Battrick a few times, but haven't been successful until this time. I'm hooked and addicted this time.

I had to wait 2 days for my team. It shouldn't be too long.

i need someone help me

Devon Rowland - 19 yo, BT Rating=23,669
LH Batsman, LM Bowler. He is an attacking player with superb leadership skills and worthless experience.
He currently has proficient batting form, feeble bowling form and energetic fitness.

Stamina: strong Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: proficient Concentration: competent
Bowling: proficient Consistency: respectable
Fielding: proficient

What i give him training ? i think gave him 2x batting and 2x bowl but i have problem it not enough room put training

Hes a bit behind from the standard player anyway so you should just put the 1 bat, 1 bowl and 1 field and leave the single nets on him for 3-4 more seasons.

My first match has just begun, how long does an OD or Friendly match take?

It's about 5 minutes per over at the moment I think.

What should I do after a performance like this?

My first game, but the batting and bowling was terrible, bar Raisani. Should I stick with my young guns (that team was mostly 17 year olds) or get in some older players? Perhaps try some new combinations, change the batting order, bowling order, etc.

Don't worry you are a newbie, you can't expect to win games from the start.
First thing to do is get rid of any player that is below: stam - med, bat/bowl - med, conc/cons - med
You can find players like that for 1k.

How important is stamina training? I have 10 net sessions, and 4 are batting, 4 are bowling, 1 wicketkeeping and 1 fielding. If I fire a batting coach and a bowling coach, and hire stamina coaches, would it be better than the batting and bowling coaches? I have 17 year olds on my batting and 17 year olds and a 18 year old.

Also, how do I challenge someone to a friendly?

Depends on what you're players are like - post who you're training and we can help.

To challenge a team to a friendly, go the their pavilion page; there's a box in the bottom right hand corner where you can challenge them. Everyone's still in the cup at the moment though, only teams who get knocked out of that can play friendlies as the matches take place at the same time.

Right, as tom said he managed to help me get a team after so long and he is now my mentor.. I guess you could say that. I have a couple of questions.. My team name is Off Drive and I am playing in South Africa. As I am new pretty much all 3 of my leagues that I am in our all bots bar about one or two. Now reading back over this thread I have seen some people throw the matches to stay in certain divisons.. If I was to stay in the divisions I am in and throw a few of my games would it benefit me so I could be consistently winning and then get a stronger fan base and improve my youngsters?

My next one is about training.. Just to say if there is anything more I can do with these two guys or any tips on them.

Code:
Joseph is a RH Batsman and RH Spin Bowler. He is a destructive player with abysmal leadership skills and worthless experience.

Bowling: worthless Consistency: worthless
Fielding: worthless

This guy is getting 1 stamina, 3 batting and 1 fielding.

Code:
Justin is a RH Batsman and RFM Bowler. He is a destructive player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience.

He currently has proficient batting form, proficient bowling form and fresh fitness.
Plays For: Off Drive

Battrick Rating: 4,813
Wages: ?436 p/w
Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: woeful Concentration: feeble
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: feeble

and this guy is getting 1 stamina, 3 bowling and 1 fielding.

Do you agree with what Tom has set or should it be tinkered with?

Firstly, staying in your current leagues rather than promoting would certainly benefit your team, if you don't mind the 'moral' - arguments. Campers are quite unpopular and the game is changing to make it less appealing. I'd always promote if given the oppertunity, but that's just me.

I think those nets on those players are excessive, I'd be amazed if they can't be put to better use elsewhere in your squad. Possibly leave them on 2 primary plus the others but 3 is a waste. Look out on the transfer market for comp/comp/comp players for a few k over the next couple of weeks, stick them on 1 primary net each, wait a couple of seasons and you'll have a decent backbone to your side.
