General Questions Thread

IMO Wait until the fixture are out. Upgrade it only if you get a home game as because if you get an away game you will loose money for maintenance.

Looking for a bit better player than a feeble/med/med for my new trainee. Trying for a med/comp/med or something like that to train on 1 stam 2 bowl.

Anyway, I just did the training predictor, and at the end of this season, my 18yo spinner will be superb, and at the end of next season, he will be remarkable, popping in the last week of the season. Then, is he still available for under 19s? If so, would be be possible to play?

Under 19s look for remarkable at the beginning of the season with superb stamina, i.e. Manders with my team

I also have a question. Who is the better bowler out of these 2?

8.Scott Burns - 30 yo, BT Rating=21,996
RH Batsman, RM Bowler. He is a steady player with competent leadership skills and remarkable experience.
He currently has strong batting form, proficient bowling form and sublime fitness.

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: feeble
Bowling: strong Consistency: superb
Fielding: mediocre

9.James Roper - 29 yo, BT Rating=45,374
LH Batsman, LM Bowler. He is a destructive player with superb leadership skills and sensational experience.
He currently has proficient batting form, proficient bowling form and sublime fitness.

Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: respectable Consistency: sensational
Fielding: proficient

Ah well, I'll just keep him as my team trainee spinner, on 2 bowl and sometimes 1 stamina. At the end of 3 more seasons training, he will be wonderful, but next season he will drop to 1 bowl, so will take more time in popping (obviously).

I also have a question. Who is the better bowler out of these 2?

Burns has the better bowling skill, can bowl that wicket taking jaffa. Roper is a more consistent, Stuart Clark kind of bowler, same spot 9/10 times.

In BT, I have no idea who is a better bowler, although Burns has more bowling ability.

Burns should be slightly better, heavy secondaries don't make up for a lack of primaries to such an extent.

I've just got some serious dough! Woo hoo. Bout time.

Now.. Max interest. I'm new to this. How many financial advisors would I need to hire for max interest? I currently have ?2,856,483 in the bank.

You could stick Roper on attacking and he'll still maintain a good economy, so that's a huge bonus. If he was a defensive player he'd be a terrific OD bowler. Right now, I'd say stick him on V.Attacking. His high consistency will make up for low skill, and why he might not take a lot of wickets, he'll still be economical. And actually, he will have those briefs spell or moments where he'll take some wickets, and he'll be excellent for bowling to to the tail and getting them out quick. A very handy FC bowler.

Burns in general would be a better bowler, but won't have Roper's awesomeness or cutting edge in FC games.

Question for the even more experienced guys then me ;) Who is the better opener?

1.Paul Tailor - 27 yo, BT Rating=28,785
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler. He is a steady player with worthless leadership skills and exquisite experience.
He currently has superb batting form, respectable bowling form and sublime fitness.

Stamina: superb Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: proficient Concentration: quality
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: mediocre

2.Seymour Ashmore - 30 yo, BT Rating=15,681
LH Batsman, LM Bowler. He is a steady player with mediocre leadership skills and exceptional experience.
He currently has proficient batting form, mediocre bowling form and sublime fitness.

Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: strong Concentration: superb
Bowling: worthless Consistency: feeble
Fielding: competent

and I guess with Tom's question comes my question.. what makes a good opener?

I would open with Ashmore. Mostly because there isn't as big of a primary-secondary gap as there is with Tailor. You could then argue Tailor has better stamina, but that would only come into play in an FC game over a really long innings 150+, so that doesn't matter. Ideally you want your opener to have an equal primary-secondary distribution or to have a secondary or two higher, you don't want it to be lower really. Having said that you can't open with a med/med/elite for example, the primary is simply too low.

I have this player that I'm currently training:

Colin Floors - 17 yo, BT Rating=5,472
LH Batsman, LFM Bowler. He is a cautious player with proficient leadership skills and worthless experience.
He currently has proficient batting form, proficient bowling form and lively fitness.

Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: competent Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: woeful

At the moment he's on 1xstamina, 1xbatting and 2xbowling. He's only had one week of training and in that week he popped to competent batting. I plan to train him up to be a bowler but netting him as a batsmen so he can add runs down the order or in a weaker side bat in the top 6 etc.

But I'm using a certain amount of nets an U19's hopeful and I'd still like to use a floating net to train another batsmen's concentration, meaning that I would have to drop his batting net.

So basically my question is. Is it worth training him in batting for a Div 4 OD side or should I just focus on his bowling? Ideally, I'd like him to be around proficient or strong in batting.

Thanks for your help :)
