General Questions Thread

Roughly, what skill would his batting be? Tbh though, I don't think I have the paitence to keep a net on him for that long.

Ok, a question about my pitch.

My bowling attack is:

Pace (Strong)
Pace (Strong)
Pace (Comp)
Spin (Prof)
Spin (Resp)

I thought I had another pacer, turns out I don't, as I just sold one (well he's still on the market). I'm thinking of going with a dusty pitch, I think.

Either go green or slow if you want a pitch to support your bowlers. Your first and second best bowlers are pace and you ideally want the pitch to cater for the best bowlers not the inbetween ones.

The prof spinner is a trainee, on 2 bowling, also, there is a med/comp/med pacer coming through, who will be very good in the future.

If I have two resp players, one a bowler, one a batsmen, to train on 1 primary, which should I do? I have it on the batsman, as batting is currently my weakness. I reckon I'll leave it there, unless I make a killer bowling attack (excuse the pun) and buy some batsman.

I just want to know, in this T20 today, I went full strength on GFI, and had a better summary, but lost. Did he get lucky, or was my orders (most batsmen very attacking with 1 or two attacking) the fault?

Reporters summary:

Killers CC Godmanchester Spitfires
Top Order: competent competent
Middle Order: mediocre mediocre
Lower Order: abysmal abysmal
Seam Bowling: competent mediocre
Spin Bowling: respectable respectable
Fielding: feeble woeful

I was equal, or better, in every department.

V. Attacking is asking to lose wickets, it can come off quite spectacularly though, but it often fails.

A) What would you do, in BT20? I have never understood BT20, in the same way I've never understood, or tried to understand, Twenty20.

B) I'm versing a team much, much better than mine in FC. There are 2 good teams, then myself, then 2 mediocre teams, then a bot, in my FC league. When versing these good teams, my plan was to go for draws. Anyway, in setting my orders for the first match, should I go full strength normal, balanced team, or go batting heavy, including another batsmen and allrounder, over bowlers? Also, should I set the team to normal, defensive or very defensive? Declaration target is 1000, FTR.

I've got a destructive bat and quite a few attacking ones, I generally try to push them all up the order, only the destructive one gets v.attacking orders at all times. Depending on the strength of the other team, varies if I pop in a slightly less agressive player in on normal orders to try to avoid collapses, generally though, attacking bats on attacking orders and the rest on normal. I've found BT20 has a large luck element about it, some days you win something unexpectedly that you didn't plan for, whilst others you'll lose to a team much worse for no reason.

Depends what the strength of the other team is, if they're bowling strong an extra batsman might help, but that all depends on his primary if it'll be a worthwhile gamble. When I play against a team better than myself, I tend to chuck everyone on defensive or v. defensive orders and try to bat it out that way. Then when it comes to bowling, everyone except my best bowler will be defensive.

Not all that in-depth, hope it helps though.
