Group C thread (Argentina, C?te d'Ivoire, Serbia and Montenegro, Netherlands)

Yeah, they have loads of promising players - Messi, Mascherano, Saviola, Milito, and loads of experience with guys like Sorin, Ayala, Crespo, Zanetti and Riquelme.

Zanetti wasn't selected for the squad. ;)

But I hope Ivory Coast and Serbia and Montenegro won't be underestimated. If they would have drawn in another group I could favour them going through.

This seems to be the easiest group of the lot. But I don't know much about the last two teams so who knows. But really it should be Netherlands and Argentina.

Easiest group?

All are capable of beating each other, It's the group of death.

Yeah, like I said this is the toughest group.

Also this is the last time Serbia and Montenegro will be playing under that name. Recently Montenegro chose to be divided from Serbia, so they will be playing with seperate countries after the World Cup. Two players in the squad come from Montenegro (I read it somewhere). All the history records from Fifa will go to Serbia.

na not really, beacuse it wasnt serbia that split of it was montenegro that wanted to be a seperate country so its a new country which means they shouldnt have any records.

the coach wants to go young i gues so thats why he didnt pick Davids same goes for Sedorf who is better than davids.

Some of the players from Serbia and Montenegro said at a press conference that Argentina and the Netherlands are scared of losing against them. Mainly because the expectations are high from these two teams.

Both Argentina and Netherlands will find it extremely hard to score against the Serbs. They had the best defensive record in the qualifiers, conceding just one goal.

GO Argentina, Best of luck, match about to start.

Ivory Coast will put up a fight - they are Africa's best representitives, but I think Lionel Messi will be a key figure in this match. If he plays well Argentina will win - if Drogba gets the chance then he may get through the Argentine defence, strong and solid on paper but they can let players through too easily on the pitch.

Argies 2-0 up just before half-time. Should be 3-0, that header was across the line. The Ivorians haven't looked bad though.

As people have said this is definately the group of death.
