Group E - England, India, New Zealand, South Africa

Same old story with England, getting fed up of this now although in that game i felt it was more our lack of experience in internationals that cost us but i'm really getting fed up of this failure. I'll give Moores time but all he's shown so far is we've gone froma below average ODI side to an average one and we've lost our first home tests in ages.

:D

This tournament is just a bit of fun, as for losing the home test series, India played the better cricket, and played the best cricket by an away side in several years, they tested us and our batsman couldn't cope with their bowling, that isn't Moore's fault.

Another defeat, again not too fussed. Flintoff really doesn't look comfortable and I can't see him playing test cricket for England again :(

Are they out of the tournament

England can go through if we beat India and, India beat South Africa but with an inferior run rate to us and if New Zealand beat South Africa then we can go through. That's a huge IF though.

at least mustard's on his way out there..

might have some muscle up the order now..

india need to win both games now, england couldnt do us a favour. even though they might of beated us you never know, but a win for england today, would of made india's chances easier.

Imo Mustard hasn't proved himself enough, I fail to see how one good years gets you in the England side, but you know, I'm not Peter Moores.

Now I wish New Zealand beat South Africa also. That way, India just need to win two to get to the semis. If South Africa win, India not only need to win two on two but also need to make sure that their net run rate is better than that of South Africa.

Tomorrow's match is important. This group is very exciting and interesting irrespective of how the results pan out. Hope the results go the expected way for India and they enter the semis.

I'd rather Davies got called up to be honest. Similar to what Animator said, Mustard's had one good season; Davies has had several.

Aye, I'm on the same page as Evo. Davies is still young and getting better, but he's had three years on the trott where he's got 1,000 plus Championship runs and especially this year has really excelled in the One Day form of the game. He's a better Keeper than Mustard also.

I do not think that Karthik should play for India in twenty20s. Simply put, he is just not agressive enough. The man has a twenty20 SR of 117.12 in 14 games, this is not good enough. I am aware he plays for Tamil Nadu and so many of these would have been successful chases but if you combine it with his ODI SR of 70.66, it shows that he is not too capable of scoring quickly. Although his fielding is good, I do not feel it saves the runs that he does not score with the bat.

I would have Rohit Sharma, with a twenty20 SR of 146.51, in for Karthik. He scores fast enough and from the limited time I have seen of him, he can field too.

I would have Yusuf Pathan in for Agarkar. He seems a capable enough bowler to be the fifth bowler and is definately a very fast scoring batsman. India should resort to plan A which is to blast teams out with brute strength with the bat, even without the Big Three, I feel they can still do that.

All I gotta say is Typical England. Same ol' as per usual.

How they can play Anderson over Tremlett is beyond belief. Snape as well in the previous game was a shocking decision.

Daniel Vettori proved that Panesar deserved a place in that team; he might not be able to bat but you can guarantee he'll bowl well and keep the scoring rate down. England's selector's are the worst around.

Tremlett's injured and don't get me started on Panesar.

;)

Mustard has had an awesome season, especially in List A cricket and according to the PCA rankings he's been more valuable this season than Ramps!

at least mustard's on his way out there..

might have some muscle up the order now..

For the record, Mustard is going straight to Sri Lanka, Solanki will keep again tomorrow.

Mustard's improvement has been massive though, I think his average was 18 in List-a at the end of 2006. It's now 27.

in 1-day cricket mustard is the leading runs scorer in the pro 40 league 2, he also has the highest average (58.5) and the highest strike rate (159.00 !!)

he has more than earned his call-up, and thumbs-up to the selector for picking someone who is actually in form..

people should not underestimate how destructive a batsman this guy is..

sorry no offence, for england fans but that was probably worse than collapses india have managed, how can you lose from being 60odd for no wicket?!

I think India will win against England, but dunno against South Africa. Can India qualify if India wins against England and lose by a small margin against SAF?
