Hindi Cinema Discussion

Just saw Yeh jawani hai deewani. I actually liked the movie, probably because I wasn't expecting too much from it. I went to movie just to see Ranbir Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor and they were fabulous. Kalki was a surprise to me because I haven't seen too much of her work I guess. She was doing great but needs to work a little more in emotional scenes. Deepika was ok, too. Overall a good movie according to me.

Watched half of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and really liked it. I actually booked for a 5.45pm show and went in at 5:46pm thinking that the hall will be 20-30% full only. But to my horror, the hall was 99.5% full and it took me a cool 15 mins to find an empty seat (it was $6/ticket today going at a discount for Wednesdays every week). And that too, WAY IN THE FRONT, 2nd row from the screen. From that place, everyone looked huge onscreen and was certainly a pain to the eye and caused me headaches that I had to leave at the intermission point as I couldn't take it anymore.

But whatever I saw of the first half, was very entertaining. Deepika looked incredibly beautiful in the film and I was most impressed with Aditya Roy Kapur. The "Balam Pitchkari" song looked beautifully colorful onscreen. I am planning to watch the entire film tomorrow and this time hopefully will be few minutes early.

Watched the rest of the movie "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani". Very good film! A little slow, but makes you feel good, emotional and positive.

Have this very very strong feeling that Ranbir and Deepika are faking their breakup. The chemistry between them is sizzling. I can't believe two people who broke up in real life can exude this kind of chemistry. So unreal, so impossible IMHO. Deepika is excellent in the second half. Ranbir is so good at this that he sleepwalks through the role. Aditya and Koechlin are first rate. Not upto Wake Up Sid, but this one is a commercial entertainer while WUS was more offbeat.

Just saw "Aashiqui 2", a movie which made me emotional after a Long long time...Just loved it! Excellent movie and Chemistry between the Lead...Hats Off to Mohit Suri for making the wonderful painful love story!! :thumbs:clap

I have a different opinion on that. I feel Shraddha Kapoor was absolutely dull or atleast her dialogue delivery was pathetic and seemed dubbed. Aditya Roy Kapoor was good in the film. The movie drags a lot of times in between and in the first half you already feel bored. The second half is still good for you to watch till the end. Nothing great about the movie, but still a one time watch.

Songs are phenomenal though! :thumbs

Finally got around to watching ABCD. Was looking really forward to it based on Sai's review.

Have to say, pretty impressive. Though it would be crap with a lot of rubbish bollywood dances, but wow the dancing was class. The film actually had a decent story line.

However, I had to leave the room for a few minutes during the film; and I don't understand a few point.

How did that guy (the druggy) die? I can't remember his name, I think it was "Chadda"
And secondly, So did D betray them but signing for the other guy?

Yes nice movie.

I'm loving the recent trend in bollywood of making films on the real life incidents. No One Killed Jessica, Paan Singh Tomar, Special 26, Shootout at Wadala (in bits and pieces obviously) and now Bhag Milkha Bhag and Ankur Arora Murder Case. Whats keeping you away from Bollywood now, Ms Freida Pinto?

Go Goa Gone.... Good entertaining Zom-Com and the first of its kind in Bollywood...Enjoyed it....Wondered who the director of the movie was and it was none other than the director duo who made excellent movie "Shor In the City".... :thumbs

No reviews on Raanjhanaa yet? Anyone watched it? Co-incidentally, I travelled back home to Ohio just on the day Raanjhanaa released. And in Ohio, no shows for Raanjhanaa (as Dhanush is a newcomer to Bollywood and not known much to Bolly audiences).

I haven't watched the movie yet but have read and heard many reviews. Almost every review praises the movie. In short, the reviews have been splendid. People are liking Dhanush.
