Just watched 'Paa'. Lifetime performance from Amitabh Bachchan. Fantastic! Abhishek did the 'Rahul Gandhi' act pretty well (but the guy cant act in emotional scenes like his 'champion' dad). Vidya was good enough too. The grandmom was very good. Excellent background music by the South Indian maestro ILAYARAJA (he is one of the best composers in India). I might watch it again just for Amitabh's "Auro" performance. Amazing voice modulation, excellent portrayal. ONLY HE CAN DO IT!!!

Watched it today (though i have exams tomorrow)

The movie has gained more respect for Big B in my heart, truly it's perfection. 67 years old a senior citizen a age where the bones, and other physical parts starts to get week( i hate too say this ) but here the Master of the Indian cinema did it absolutely brilliant.
Thanks to the director of the movie who took up the subject of this movie as Projeria a disease which till now only 40 cases are registered (as per in the movie)

Movie is all good, he lives his life to the fullest with that rare dissease and a huge support by his mother to grew his boy. what i loved the most was the innocence of 12 year old "Auro" he's shy to girls, respects his elders, and the most touching movement when he asks the MP to take him to a Rashtrapati Bhavan. seriously salute at 12 year old you would see a fantasy fair, water resort but Auru choses to see the President house. Haha Love Vishnu's lines also the word "Bum"


I cried at the last scene, seriously i pray to god please don't let this happen to any of the person in any part of the world.


Also Sai, the movie enlighten the point of too much freedom to the Media, which need to be controlled. our media is biased and can drop to any level for TRP's , SAD but TRUE.

Rocket Singh : Salesman of the Year

Just came back after watching Rocket Singh and I have to say, it is one of the better movies of this year. Liked the acting and screenplay. The dialogues are well written as well. I'd recommend people to watch it.

Sadly, the movie is turning out to be a flop in India. And the worst part is Taran Adarsh's review on Bollywood Hungama. He says the film lacks entertainment and all the drama of Yash Raj's earlier offerings. While Raja Sen on Rediff praises the film for being refreshingly different. I believe in Rediff. I am waiting to watch the film. Taran Adarsh has become such a big 'money sucker' that his reviews are influenced by how much paper he gets from the producers. If a film sports the 'Thanks to Bollywood Hungama' message at the beginning in the titles, the film definitely gets a very good review. If not, the film is gone according to them.

Sometime back, I used to watch films solely based on Taran's reviews because his views mirrored mine. Not anymore!

Yeah.... Recently his reviews have been awfully triggered to please 'certain' people. For De Dana Dan, he said "Enjoy this madcap entertainer". It was a madcap for sure, but 'enjoy' and 'entertainer' are words that need to remain far far away from that film. Rediff's "Raja Sen" is better although he has a known crush for SRK films.

@Sai that Bollyhungama guy is just :doh . he says "Rocket lacks romance and songs" what mood is he still in? Ajab prem? it's not a bloody love story film, it's a something related to marketing/sales the competition and the dull service which some company provide, the crap lazy crew etc. whereas Harpeet aka Ranbir grows up his own in the same place with quality service and cheap rate. Honesty, Kindness and respect for the lower level employee is what we/i learnt from it.




De dana dan = complete waste of time and that guy rates it 3/5 :doh

Usually, Rajeev Masand gives the most fair reviews.

i watched rocket singh last night and can see why it flopped badly.
first of, the pace was very slow and overall, it looked like a documentary
than a movie.

no doubt the story and the acting were very good but people in the single
screens dont care much about these factors(which i think you'll be knowing). they just want to be entertained.Films like OSO,Golmaal Returns, Singh is King, Welcome etc have had huge success in the Box Office which is testimony of my statement.

the best example would be "Talaivar" AKA Rajnikanth.

most of my friends also had the same opinion as mine....."Great Story, Great Acting...........but boring".

what YRF should've done is released it in only the Multiplexes and probably some single screens in the major cities. this would've cut down their distribution costs.

also, you must not be knowing this but the marketing and promotion was extremely low-key. i know YRF dont go out of the way or do crazy marketing like SRK etc but surely they could've increased it by a couple of notches if you have full faith in your film. the word-of-mouth wasnt very exciting either.

last night i was passing by Fame Adlabs and all 3 shows of Avatar in 3 screens were housefull and and 1 screen of vettaikaran was housefull as well.

so people do have the money and interest to go to the theaters but sometimes its hard to decipher why a film works or doesnt.

3 Idiots has released today. Pretty surprised that the film has not hogged as much headlines as Aamir's previous films like Ghajini or Rang De Basanti. Also its a very odd time for the film to release (on a Wednesday) when the next day is still a working day in many parts of the world (including the US). Not sure if I can watch it in the theatre because they havent yet announced if they would be screening the movie here (they screened Rocket Singh, Kurbaan, London Dreams, and every other recent medium to big Hindi movie here).

The reviews are not going to make me decide to watch the film or not. Its an AAMIR KHAN film and thats good enough reason to hit theatres.

3 Idiots has released today. Pretty surprised that the film has not hogged as much headlines as Aamir's previous films like Ghajini or Rang De Basanti. Also its a very odd time for the film to release (on a Wednesday) when the next day is still a working day in many parts of the world (including the US). Not sure if I can watch it in the theatre because they havent yet announced if they would be screening the movie here (they screened Rocket Singh, Kurbaan, London Dreams, and every other recent medium to big Hindi movie here).

The reviews are not going to make me decide to watch the film or not. Its an AAMIR KHAN film and thats good enough reason to hit theatres.

Also, the strong engineering students community in India will automatically make it a hit. Five Point Someone has a huge cult following and that is what might be a problem for the movie. Sometimes, the movies don`t exactly recapture the essence of the book.
