I am eagerly waiting for Three Idiots and My Name is Khan.
but the OTT promotions are getting really ridiculous. and i thought aamir was the only one who lets his films do the talking.:sarcasm
the whole incident of aamir visiting a village in disguise is so cheap.
add to that the facebook account (Pucca Iddiott)
even SRK didnt stoop to such levels in OSO.
Money, honey
Just watched 'Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year'. Must say that at the start, the movie sounded incredibly boring and I thought it would be a waste of time. But as it went on, the movie got really interesting and in the end, it left me really satisfied. Well written script by Jaideep Sahni and good performance by Ranbir (at times, his character tended to irritate viewers with his attitude but later all that he did was very good). I would rate the film 4/5 (I am generous in my ratings, because its not money to be a miser). Yash Raj should not feel bad for the failure of this film. Just like Chak De, they have given a good film (though not as good as Chak De).
a 44 year old playing a 22 year old dude is not very encouraging
Ultimately its all about the exposure that you can give to the film. I never felt any of the tactics that Aamir adopted was cheap. He himself mentioned that in the film, he disappears and his friends (Maddy and Sharman) find him. And so, this marketing technique was adopted. Whats wrong in having a FB account with that name?
SRK doesnt have the brains of Aamir to do this kind of promotion. The marketing that Aamir has done for '3 Idiots' is creative and great for the film.
Yeah... Ultimately that decides how successful the film is. So not wrong that people do whatever it takes to get that money. In fact its their duty to do whatever they can to promote their film as long as its not cheap and insulting (people need to get their definitions of 'cheap' right).

@ jkartik: The situation when he told in that interview after RDB about not promoting it much and being proud of it might be different than what it is right now. We do not know what has made him promote his films the way he is doing right now. And we do not know that, we should purely rate whether the new promotion technique is ethically right or wrong, and there is nothing wrong about it.
South's knowledge about Bollywood has been growing ever since a long time back. Almost all Bollywood films have big releases in Chennai and the other parts of Tamil Nadu and there have been lots of posters and banners of Bollywood actors adorning tea stalls, shopping complexes, single shops, etc. Surya's popularity rose further in Tamil Nadu after Aamir decided to remake Ghajini and also praised Surya for his performance. So Aamir thinking that people might be knowing him is not a shocker.
