There is one twist in the story which wont be liked by many parents.

im not sure if ur talking about because it could be two things, but it was a good movie the first bollywood film i've seen in 5 years and it wasn't corny at all. just as all indian movies it was too long and then finished abruptly, but otherwise it was really good.

btw kites and karthik calling karthik sound stupid and typical of bollywood films. and is it me or do indian movies get more and more "rude" these days.

4 more hours to go before I re-visit the SRK-Kajol classic chemistry with 'My Name is Khan'. And after all the raving reviews, I just HAVE TO WATCH THIS!! Great day today, watching MNIK and also saw India do very well at Eden Gardens.:banana2 More days like this, please!!

Just came back from 'My Name is Khan'. Fabulous movie! Its not the usual Bollywood'ish fast paced masala or the romance drama that Karan Johar specialises in, but its a movie thats fully packed with powerful drama and special performances. Especially Shahrukh Khan! WOW! Cant believe he has acted this well. For me, this is his BEST EVER PERFORMANCE (beats Swades and Chak De)!!! Among the recent films of other actors (Amitabh's Paa included), this is the best performance from a leading actor. Kajol was also magnificient. I missed her a little in the second half (where most of the focus was on Shahrukh) but the chemistry is just superb man! Ever lasting! The "Marry me..." sequence and the way SRK reacts is just gold!

Negatives are there. Climax could have been a little more powerful though it was acceptable. A little more pace in the narration could have worked really well for the movie. Also some of the scenes that I saw in the trailor were not to be seen in the film (Karan has this knack of cutting out really good scenes at the editing table:laugh). But all said, this movie is a very sincere attempt by Karan Johar to break ground and make films that should be made. WHO CARES IF ITS A 9/11 FILM? If a 9/11 film can be like this, I will watch it million times. And also, these kind of films offer lot of drama and are engaging in narration.

I think this film can be watched by non-Bollywood lovers too. It has that Bollywood element in it but it also has stuff that can attract other audience.

Saw MNIK, and I would say its one of the best SRK movies I have seen. Better than K3G, DDLJ, OSO, Chak de. But the movie is a bit slow. Acting SRK is brilliant, and I am saying this even as I am anti SRK. Kajol as done a good job but as Pranav said the ending isnt that good at all.

But if your compare it to 3 idiots then you will find MNIK boring as its on a serious issue. MNIK is very slow compared to 3 idiots and I would would give it 4/5.

I am not comparing it with 3 Idiots. Both are completely different genres. Both come with loads of messages. 3 Idiots will work better because its comedy which more people like. But MNIK tells the messages in equally good fashion.

Its a slow movie, but you dont mind it much. For Swades, I was waiting for it to end (during the last 20 mins), but here I didnt feel that urge for it to end. SRK acting really shocked me. I have not watched Rainman or whatever movie its inspired from, but from the Indian films perspective, this is SRK's finest performance (and one of the finest performances in recent times).

To those who say that it was a slow movie, I guess it's made to be such intentionally. The movie seems to be slow because of it's slow narration. But the fact is, because Shahrukh is suffering from autism, he can't speak fluently or fast. The slowness of the movie is made such, so that audience gets the real feel of the disease.

One thing i liked the movie too but my moms brother wife didnt like it much she kept saying 3 idiots was better as 3 was comedy and easily understandable by many people compare to mnik. I still think many would have not understand this like some part so they saw 3 is good.
Both 3 and MNIK are nice in their own way its just people who sometimes dont understand.
The ending was little down but looking at angelina Jolie she also visits these places and gets a media coverage.
One last thing the heavy lady in the kajol saloon was aami khan villian co star in hum hain rahi pyaar ke look at her now

I saw Striker yesterday. Pretty good movie, I must say. It was a little all over the place in terms of the flashbacks though. 97% of the movie was in the past. A little bit more could have been done with the present, in my opinion.

Ok what is the best thing you can gift your girlfriend on Valentines Day? A SRK movie whose tickets are not available for 2 more weeks.

Sadly though I have to say this film is total dabba. I really do not know how people are liking this movie when its story was so disconnected the whole time. Let me first of all make myself clear here:
1. I am not biggest fan of SRK but some of his films like Dil Se, Swadesh are my favorite films of all time.
2. I hardly see hindi movies as the ones I see turn out to be disaster.
3. I can watch any kind of movie, funny, family drama, crime etc.
4. I hate Kareena Kapoor and do not watch any movie or TV event with her in it. The only reason why I have not watched 3 Idiots.
5. I hate Caramel Popcorns
6. Most importantly, I do not hesitate in expressing my opinion even if it is not acceptable to most people. I say black is black and white is white. Nothing grey for me.

Now coming to the movie, this movie should have made me cry but sadly I was crying because I was eating those damm popcorns which I hate. I have felt more pity for Aamir Khan in Gajni than I did for SRK in this movie. Hell I felt more pity for those Mumbaikars who braved Shiv Sena to watch the movie on its release day. Even when SRK is frisked at Airport, sent to jail or stabbed, I did not feel sorry for the guy.

There is no connection in story and events happening. SRK should have watched serial "Aap ki Antara" or taken acting lessons from that cute girl about his character. He looked more of a gay than a person who was suffering something similar to Autism.

The hurricane scenes were the worst part of the movie. And who was sponsoring SRK while he was trying to meet president. Did he receive money from KJo? Too bad we do not have Barack Obamas duplicate. The Bush duplicate is a very funny guy and he did not even had a single line in the movie. When Sam was sying SRK even had time to find a medical encyclopedia and search for the term which doctors were referring.

Kajol is totally wasted in the movie. She could have been easily been replaced by Rakhi Sawant and it would not have mattered.

After interval I was eagerly waiting for something dramatic to happen as Pranav had said not to miss it. I think he was referring to the fact that football kills people. I am smart guy I dont watch or play this game.

Do not start disecting this post. I do not care if you like this movie and neither should you care if I do not like it. This review is for JK.

Rating: 1/5, Ninja Assassin was much better than this one and it is a crap movie as well.

Not my intent to disect your review. Your opinion is respected (we all know your taste, we only at times pull your leg!). But just wanted to add a few points here.

1. You never mentioned why you didnt find a connection between the story and the events happening. Where did you feel that? I for one, never felt it anywhere. Of course, its a mainstream Bollywood commercial film, so some scenes could be to show the chemistry between the lead actors, the romance, etc but still the love story was part of the film. Most films have lot of scenes that establish the mood first and then dive into the story.

2. I guess SRK was among the crowd and wanted to meet the President. He didnt try for any special meeting with the President and he made himself available wherever the President came for dinner, meetings, etc.

3. When Sam was dying, SRK didnt have the kind of mind to immediately sense that something really bad was happening. He knew it was not good, but didnt know it was going to turn out bad. All that hit him was the term used by the doctor and so I guess that sums up his reaction.

Anyways, everyone has an opinion and we all have one too. There is nothing called 'fact' here.A film is a good one or bad one to the eyes of its beholder. For me, KKHH, K3G, DDLG are all classics but there are so many other people who just consider them as good entertainers and nothing more (their idea of a classic is completely different)

Actually, songs are there but there are no lip sync songs (unlike the usual vintage Bollywood fare). Which means, the songs are used in the background while the story moves forward. So I am not sure how much the songs will help you if all you want is a break. There is one song which is a wedding song which has the celebration and the dance stuff in it. So that could be a candidate for you to take a break!
