Hindi Cinema Discussion

Ok what is the best thing you can gift your girlfriend on Valentines Day? A SRK movie whose tickets are not available for 2 more weeks.

Sadly though I have to say this film is total dabba. I really do not know how people are liking this movie when its story was so disconnected the whole time. Let me first of all make myself clear here:
1. I am not biggest fan of SRK but some of his films like Dil Se, Swadesh are my favorite films of all time.
2. I hardly see hindi movies as the ones I see turn out to be disaster.
3. I can watch any kind of movie, funny, family drama, crime etc.
4. I hate Kareena Kapoor and do not watch any movie or TV event with her in it. The only reason why I have not watched 3 Idiots.
5. I hate Caramel Popcorns
6. Most importantly, I do not hesitate in expressing my opinion even if it is not acceptable to most people. I say black is black and white is white. Nothing grey for me.

Now coming to the movie, this movie should have made me cry but sadly I was crying because I was eating those damm popcorns which I hate. I have felt more pity for Aamir Khan in Gajni than I did for SRK in this movie. Hell I felt more pity for those Mumbaikars who braved Shiv Sena to watch the movie on its release day. Even when SRK is frisked at Airport, sent to jail or stabbed, I did not feel sorry for the guy.

There is no connection in story and events happening. SRK should have watched serial "Aap ki Antara" or taken acting lessons from that cute girl about his character. He looked more of a gay than a person who was suffering something similar to Autism.

The hurricane scenes were the worst part of the movie. And who was sponsoring SRK while he was trying to meet president. Did he receive money from KJo? Too bad we do not have Barack Obamas duplicate. The Bush duplicate is a very funny guy and he did not even had a single line in the movie. When Sam was sying SRK even had time to find a medical encyclopedia and search for the term which doctors were referring. :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

Kajol is totally wasted in the movie. She could have been easily been replaced by Rakhi Sawant and it would not have mattered.

After interval I was eagerly waiting for something dramatic to happen as Pranav had said not to miss it. I think he was referring to the fact that football kills people. I am smart guy I dont watch or play this game. :p

Do not start disecting this post. I do not care if you like this movie and neither should you care if I do not like it. This review is for JK. :D

Rating: 1/5, Ninja Assassin was much better than this one and it is a crap movie as well.

How can you be stuffed to write a freakin essay

@sid - NICE!!! i expected a negative review from you but not this bad HAHAHA!!! EPIC! :laugh

will definitely have to watch it now.:D

I am surprised everyone here is liking the movie as I am yet to meet a single person in flesh who has liked this one. Even the one I went to see movie with. :p

Disconnects:

There are so many that it will be another essay and I do not write those long essays. Maybe KC might do it. :p

Where did you watch the movie? At single screen theatres in smaller centres? According to box office analysis so far, the movie has not been doing that well at these single screen theatres in smaller centres (the Salman Khan fortress area and also an area where they like masala movies!). I have been reading orkut, PC, forums, etc. You are only the second person that I know who has not liked the film. The rest have all either said its good (could have been better) or its brilliant!

MNIK was cringeworthy when they exaggerated some of the *sensitive* issues. I still dont get what the movie was trying to promote or imply. ANd the timeframe of the 9/11 to bush to obama is so out of sync its not funny. 9/11 happening in San Francissco? WTF???

Did you watch the film? They didnt show anywhere saying that 9/11 happening in San Francisco. They saw the happenings of 9/11 on TV. 9/11 affected everyone in the US, no matter which place they lived in. And the impact was felt all over the country for the Muslims.

Didnt the *Caucasian* kid's dad/mum die as a result of the 9/11. So I assumed they made it happen in San Fran.

You didnt follow it properly then. There was a scene where Kajol comes back home and plays with her kid and Shahrukh and she gets a call from Sara (the mom of the Caucasian kid) who says on the phone that her husband is sent to cover the war in Afghanistan (he is a TV reporter of some sort). So he dies in Afghanistan while covering the war (or because of that trip). Also after 9/11 happened, there was a memorial scene where all people in the city gathered with candles and the Caucasian kid's family were there (both mum/dad) and also after that, they had dinner together at their home (SRK says that the chicken is not good and they all laugh).

Sam was supposed to be 6 when SRK married Kajol. :facepalm

I think he was medically ill as he never grew up after that, only his hair got short.

I saw the movie in best multiplex here and those popcorns cost Rs. 120. Its not funny.

People who hardly get to watch Indian movies are the ones who will like this movie. NRIs. :p

Its not funny because these days, NRI's get to watch more Indian movies than those who live in India. My cousin who lived in India till he completed his undergraduate study and came to do his Masters in the UK, said to me that he watched triple the amount of movies than he had ever watched while he was in India (because of internet downloading and with the very fast internet speeds here than in India). Same with me, while I grew up in India, my parents never took me for too many movies. When I came here for my colleg studies, I watched endless amount of movies.

SaiSrini added 3 Minutes and 33 Seconds later...

Ok, dont get me started on that "NRI vs those living in India" thing.:D Those who actually live in India dont know the worth of the country. Most of them who come out of it, get to know the actual worth.

ha ha.. the thing is, here we dont have many sources of entertainment. our friday nights, saturday and sunday are mostly spent at home. so what we do is we watch movies at that time. in india, we could think of going out somewhere and stay out for long periods of time. here, you dont have that many places to go (if you are in small states) and also you have to waste gas (fuel) in your car coz you have to drive. so we dont venture out much.
