Hindi Cinema Discussion

Wow, I completely agree with this review. Just completed watching Raajneeti and came here to write a review. I would reduce the 0.2 points and give it 3/5.

But you didn't write "your review" :p
Are we going to see one anytime soon? ;)

I intend to write a really full blown review for 'Raavan' which I am expecting with bated breath. For Raajneeti, take Pranav's review as mine too:D

I'll stay away from that ████ movie. So no review from my side :p

Why are you soooooooo against the movie raavan? :p
You do not like Mani ratnam, or is it because you do not like "jungle films" :laugh

I might watch the Hindi and Tamil version on the same day at the same theatre. Here in Michigan, Big Cinemas is screening both versions. Will watch 'Raavan' (Hindi) at 1:15pm and watch 'Raavanan' (Tamil) at 4:45 or 7:30pm. Lots of shows here. I think the movie will do really well in the US (especially after Rahman's Oscar win, and the reputation of Mani Ratnam and Ash; notwithstanding Abhishek and his super performances in Mani's films). Good that I have relatives in Michigan :D With different cast for each version, it makes it so hard to chose which one to watch first.

@ sid: I am waiting for your 'Raavan' review (there is no first, second here). @ Pranav: Was waiting for yours too, anyways......:(

Sai, you're in Michigan?!

We're probably going to go to Big Cinema on Thursday. AR Rahman concert on Friday in Chicago :D:D.

I am in Cincinnati, Ohio only. Have relatives in Michigan and so thought of going there to watch Raavan. But now those plans are cancelled because my family cant make it and am not interested in going alone without family. And also, the Tamil version of Raavan is being screened here in Columbus, OH and I am catching that on Friday night. Will catch the Hindi version on DVD. Sid wins over me in 'who posts Raavan review first'.

Cant make it to Rahman concerts. Those are damn costly. Am still dependent on parents, and they cant spend that much right now.

Edit: Waiting for feedback on the Hindi version from the world premiere that took place in London a few hours back (was telecasted live on NDTV). The reports from the Tamil version in orkut are highly encouraging (signs are that the Tamil version will be a hit at the very least). But I have a feeling the Hindi version will be the best (since it started out as a Hindi film, and then they decided to make the Tamil one to satisfy Mani's home audience).

:p 2/5

Sai will give it 5/5 though.

Vikram +1

Have you watched it? When? Where is your full blown review?

I dont give 5/5 just like that. Do you say I will give one additional point just for Vikram? Anyways, lets see. The Hindi version seems to be getting quite some flak on twitter and orkut. The Tamil version is getting 80% positive reviews and 15% 'average' verdict. I am guessing Abhishek is the factor that is making reviews seem so different for both versions (is it due to the hate for him, or is it really because he has not performed as well, dont know).

Anyways watching Tamil version tomorrow. Also the 'mango people' will start watching the film tomorrow and so their verdict will be more crucial for the film's BO prospects. Still fingers crossed! I guess Pranav must be feeling a lil more happy now.
