How are you doing in ICC? (any version)

started off with Worcestershire yesterday....needed a new county and thought Worcestershire would be a good challenge..started playing my first match against Middlesex

In the 1st Innings we scored 287 thanks to Ben Smith making 94 and Kervezee 85...the other guys didn't actually contribute that much

Middlesex on the other hand just got 236 or something like that...Shakib got a five for with Frank Shone(a youth spinner whom I bought)got two along with Daryl Mitchell

now starting off my second innings...lets see if I can end this match with a win on our cards

Ok, decided to start a save with Tasmania and see how I go.

10. Peter George (1)
11. Ben Edmondson (2)

Toss:

Tasmania won the toss and elected to bat first

----------

Good first session for Tasmania, 99/0 at lunch. Paine is 52* and Cosgrove is 45*.

Bowling Figures:

George 9-2-22-0
Edmondson 10-1-25-0
Christian 7-1-26-0
Duval 5-0-19-0
D Harris 1-0-7-0

----------

Paine is the only casualty for Tasmania in the second session, out for 76, caught behind off Peter George, while Cosgrove is on 87* and Ponting is 16*. George has figures of 1/38.

----------

Tasmania 310/3 at stumps. Cosgrove got out for 99, and Bailey got out late in the session for 44 with Ponting not out on 82 and Birt is 1*. Ferguson was the one to get the late breakthrough with figures of 1/1 from 1 over.

----------

Ok, Tasmania make 443/6 declared, Ponting scoring 148 while Birt was dismissed for 9 early in the day before Cowan hit a nice 53*. Butterworth was 1* and Faulkner didn't face a ball when the declaration came. Edmondson had figures of 3/135.

----------

Draw.

They made 430 all out, Gerard Denton taking 6/82, Butterworth also taking 3/103. We then made 231/4 declared, Cosgrove scoring another 90, this time out for 93 while Ponting also scored 55 before they made 170/4, Smith scoring 90 while Doherty took 3/48.

----------

And Hilfenhaus (back from injury) and Doherty with the new ball completely ripped apart South Australia in the One Day Cup, Hilfenhaus taking 3/22 from 8 overs while Doherty took 3/37 from his 10 overs, both with 2 maidens each, with Geeves and Butterworth taking 2 wickets a piece. Despite losing Paine and Ponting early, Cosgrove and Bailey made sure Tasmania won with ease, Cosgrove scoring 64*, Bailey 37*.

Here's a pre World Cup update.

In tests matches our batting has generally been what you would expect from New Zealand, a couple of guys averaging around 40, and a couple more guys averaging around 30. Our bowling was terrible though, which is emphasized by no one averaging under 30.

In ODIs and T20Is we were competitive in most of our matches, which you can see from some very good individual stats by several people, but it was those other four or so people in our playing XI that let us down.

For the World Cup squad I've pretty much just got one player to omit from the 16 players who've played in the previous ODI matches this season. ATM it's probably out of Jimmy Neesham and Chris Martin. I'm annoyed that I didn't play Neesham earlier, as I didn't give him a run until our final ODI match against Sri Lanka. There's not really much point on taking five specialist pace bowlers, hence why I probably won't take Martin, also his batting doesn't help, as lower order runs can be crucial with my inconsistent top order. On top of that normally just playing four bowlers and de Grandhomme hasn't been a good formula bowling wise, as if one of them goes the distance we don't really have any other options.

Our playing XI will probably look something like this:

Guptill
Raval/McIntosh/Todd/Neesham
Vincent
Kitchen
de Boorder
de Grandhomme
Hopkins
Mills
Tuffey
Two of Hira/Shaw/Bates

Looking at that though I'm not sure if I need McIntosh, as Vincent can cover Raval opener as well, then I could push Hopkins up to three and bring in like Neesham at seven.

Here are my stats heading into the World Cup.

You can really only do this as Auckland and still be competitive in ICC2010

Raval and Kitchen are extremely highly rated, and then you've got Guptill, McIntosh and Vincent who aren't bad, with de Boorder being youth and a long way ahead of him.

de Grandhomme is always in my default 15 after a few years, and Hopkins I think is rated as one of the better keepers in NZ in the game.

Tuffey, Mills and Bates are a formidable pace attack as well. Martin and Shaw aren't badly rated either. Spin is where Auckland is let down, with Hira, Martin and Singh not being too highly rated.

We've still been pretty crap. I've lost every match, except a T20I against Zimbabwe, and I drew the first test match against Sri Lanka, thanks to a 50 run ninth wicket partnership in the last session on day five with only Chris Martin in the shed.

Against Sri Lanka in the ODIs we lost one by five runs, we were only chasing 170 odd and were bundled out in the 40th over... And we lost another one of them by three wickets after their number 8 hit a 40 and their number 9 a 20.

I'm currently at the 2015 world cup as New Zealand, and after the group stage, Jesse Ryder is my top batsman and wicket-taker. He's scored 269 runs at 44.8 and 17 wickets at 9.65... Previously he had taken 32 wickets in his entire ODI career. Third on the wicket-takers list is Kane Williamson with 11 at 10.64. This is rather weird.

----------

Typically, we got knocked out in the semi-finals by Bangladesh

Here are the WC stats:

South Africa won in the end.

continued my Worcestershire vs Middlesex match and man was it a thriller...got bowled out for 174 in the 2nd innings and then got the target with 1 wicket remaining god....

Started playing with New Zealand and got through to the Super 8's of the WT20. Who's the best NZ keeper except Mccullum? currently using Derek De Boorder and he has produced a good knock in his first game...put in Joseph Yovich in the side too and he has performed well kinda average against Zimbabwe....experimenting with my side...and trying to find a good combination

After McCullum, I think the game prefers Gareth Hopkins. But he's old, so de Boorder is probably the best

Whoa....never knew Williamson could bowl that well here...kinda surprised to see Kitchen averaging 13
Gonna test Hopkins out on my next tour

Williamson doesn't normally bowl that well. I normally use him as the sixth bowler to see how he does but he just bowled amazingly well in the tournament. Same with Ryder actually.

I think I just had one of the weirdest months of cricket in my Worcestershire save. I know I haven't posted it yet but really, it doesn't matter.

Started off with a big loss in the Challenge Trophy where we were rolled for 174. Then we had a CC match where I managed 557/7, Stafford scoring 213 while Ambrose made a nice 100*. It ended up being a draw though as there wasn't much chance of a result.

My next match was unbelievable though. Warwickshire made 403 all out, but then I fell quickly to 4/71 and 5/117 soon after and in big trouble with Afridi who had only scored one half century all season (which was in T20 anyway) the only batsman left to partner Park. Somehow though, they put on a 229 run partnership with Park making 151 and Afridi 119 before Arif scored 42* to get us up to 432 all out but now we had really no chance of winning with it already being late on Day 3. Pears and Arif struck with the wickets of both openers though really early on, Westwood out for 2 and Chopra for 1 and Clarke and Troughton fell soon after to Pears and Rankin respectively as they were 35/4 at stumps. Rankin then struck in the first over of the final day but after a small recovery from Trott and Ord, Rankin ripped through the rest of the order finishing with 6/45 while Pears took 3/35. Hussain took 0/3 from 5 overs with 4 maidens (and the 3 runs came off the final over of Day 4 before I brought my pace bowlers back on). And then Blundell led the chase with an unbeaten 47 as we won by 9 wickets.

Back that up with one weird loss in the Challenge Trophy. Made 253/8 batting first with Park making 96 and Afridi again played a nice cameo innings of 50* at the end while Mitchell had made 56 at the top of the order. We had them at 5/78 before they worked their way back into it but a stunning spell of bowling from Daryl Mitchell taking 3/53 brought them back down to 8/148 and really no chance of winning. Cutting made 11 before Pears got him out but the partnership was strong as they were now 9/177. They still had really no chance but somehow, we couldn't take the final wicket with Pettini making an unbeaten 101 while Chambers, their #11 batsman scored 34* as they won with 3 overs remaining.

We were ripped apart by Leicestershire in a must win Challenge Trophy game as they made 291/4 with Benning making 135* but somehow, thanks to some great knocks from Mitchell (85), Stafford (64) and Park (87*) as well as Adler at the end with 43* got us over the line, winning by 6 wickets with 10 balls remaining.

Well we had no chance of coming first in the CT so we needed a huge win to hopefully make us come second and get us the best 2nd place spot so I put the team on full aggression nearly batting first and we ended up making 315 all out from only 37 overs, with Stafford finishing 161* and at one stage heading for 200 (He was about 95 off 18 overs). Mitchell was his only real support with 51 but Park and Choudhry proved to be handy partners although the bottom 6 didn't even manage 20 runs between them.

But then came the most brilliant bit of bowling ever, as Rankin completely ripped through them, taking his first OD 5 wicket haul but figures of 8/32 from only 5 overs.

I still have one more CC game this month but I doubt it will be as entertaining as the rest of the month.

So here is the CT table:

Pos - Team - Played - Won - Lost - Pts - NRR
1st - Durham - 10 - 8 - 2 - 16 - +5.57
2nd - Worcestershire - 12 - 7 - 5 - 14 - +8.06
3rd - Yorkshire - 10 - 7 - 3 - 14 - +7.62

So really we have to hope Yorkshire lose their final 2 games and Hampshire and Glamorgan lose their final game in their 2 respective groups. Yorkshire play Durham but then they play Netherlands so that will be an easy win.

Played as NZ at a friend's place yesterday using Jono's roster/save.
This was an epic match:

Don't know why only the first innings was saved though.

Got kicked out of the World T20 world Cup right in the second round...just because my NRR was low. Now for the test series against South Africa...this is my squad:
ICC10NZ1.jpg

Picked up Michael Bates, Anaru Kitchen and Matt Sinclair. Wanted Kruger Van Wyk too but unfortunately he was injured....Drafted Tarun Nethula in too because of his good domestic form. And Williamson won't be the captain....I replaced Williamson with Sinclair in the team but forgot to transfer the captaincy to Vettori

I've never tried Nethula before, it'll be interesting to see how he goes
