How are you doing in ICC? (any version)

Lost out on T20 progression by one point! I tied two games!

Quite annoyed. Though I won my next CC game after the T20.

Ten Doeschate has been poor for me this year. His last year on this contract. He's on 57k. He won't be re-signed unless he wants about 30.

i gues old Ryan must have been scaled back a bit for this version, he was an absoulte gun last year

He was excellent in first couple of seasons. I'm now in 2011, so he is a bit older. He's still okay, but I'm not paying 57k for someone who is averaging 30s.

back-to-back maximum wins in the CC. Luverly. Maiden century for Tom Smith too.:happy

Hampshire 2010 - Season review

Another trophy-less season at the Rose Bowl but overall we were a much better unit with promising signs for the future.
The Team
The county championship is the bread and butter of a county side and our 4th place finish was our best yet, barring a slump in July we could have been either higher.
The friends Provident provided another team best, reaching the semi-finals and losing out narrowly there. We came second in our group and produced a fantastic performance in the quarter final against Kent to chase down 292 on a dodgy pitch with Dimitri Mascheranas hitting 20 off the last 2 overs
The 20/20 Cup followed the pattern of previous years, we made a strong start, faltered and then lost to Surrey in the quarter finals for the 3rd time in 3 years
Pro40 Division two was a lot easier than in previous years, we won 7 of the 9 games to return to division 1 as div 2 winners.

The Players

Michael Carberry was our star batsman with 1350 runs @ 82, despite missing the last 4 county games with an injury.

Nic Pothas was the top scoring wicketkeeper in the land and sound behind the stumps

Luke wright began the season as a bits and pieces one day player, but ended it with a place in the team in all forms of the game. His bowling was economical and took key wickets and his batting evolved to a much more mature and considered game

James Treadwell filled the previously gaping hole in our line up for a good spinner 51 wickets @ 32 and some useful runs made him signing of the season

Dale Steyn was our overseas player and was our strike bowler of choice, 87 wickets @ 22 was a fair return for the effort he put in

Domonic Stanton was a RFM bowler who came up from our youth set-up mid way through the season, a 4-90 against Lancs on debut showed his potential, one for the future

ICC 2006

I have been playing them, a fair bit as i have had one or two, rebuilding seasons. As i said, i have 4 decent youth spinners come through, two which appear to be very good. Just cannot find a decent quickie.

My two best fast bowlers, which are also all rounders, get called up to the England squad for most of the season, leaving me lacking in that department. Recently, i have been forced to field four spinners in all games, which works out better in first class matches and odi's. In OD games i then bowl 2 part time bowlers for the last few overs. Won my first 7 games of the pro 40 doing it this way. :p

In fact, i loose between 4-8 players to England duty. Still doing ok though in all comps, won this years CT, 3rd in the CC and looking to win the Pro 40 for the first time in my 8-9 year ICC current career.

How are your other quickies averaging? I have two fast bowlers who came out of the youth team with an average below 18, and now average 34, but when I pick an overseas bowler averaging 20-22 they all seem to end up averaging 28-30, so I probably need to reform the way I am bowling my quicks.

What are your other bowlers doing?

I always seem to play a full game but then decide not to Captain England, so I've started a new game on ICC2006 as Somerset and England. First game as Somerset, with Tresco injured, I bat first and at 29-3 and 151-6 feel in a bit of a problem, only for Wood with 146 and Gazzard with 153 to save the day. I love Gazzard on this version, as long as you work him up slowly he can get some important scores at tricky times.

ICC 06 2016
Declined England every year.

Kelly and Williamson are both Aus Int.

Komasaru is the best bowler on the domestic circuit, and he has already taken 52 wickets from 8 matches. Jerome Taylor is utterly useless, averaging 21 before the season, now averaging just under 24. He's taken 9 wickets at 65 from 7 matches. Chester was selected for England, but was returned without an International cap. Barrick has been a consistent run scorer, but not so good with the ball, although he is doing well with both in OD's.

I'll update more when I get ICC installed again ^^

I just did the quadruple with Surrey in 2012, thanks to having M Hussian and H Le roux (I think?) as two great bowling alrounders. That plus Tim Ambrose 'keeping, two openers averaging over 60 and a middle order of Ben Harkness (A 2nd team average 69 regen) and Ben Eden (a 60 average regen)

This year is going to be tricky though... Hussain retired so I needed an overseas spinner, so I am relying on a Pace attack all 24 or 23 year olds, one foriegn spinner and one 24 year old alrounder. Bopara has been pushed into the second team by an excelent young no. 3, so I only have Ambrose with over 100 caps. My team has less than 600 FC caps total, and I have lots of youth talent, so am using only technique coaching, so players are mostly out of form in a big way :S, although one opening bat has hit 302 in a FC game and 191 in a one dayer :hpraise.

Well I kept Ten Doeschate after he scored 2 centuries at the end of last season. Cook got his England contract back so I had some more money to spend. Masters and Phillips retired. Which was a pain. I brought in Lawson as a third spinner. As Murtaza is 37, he could be my 2nd spinner. Signed Plunkett too, he's doing well. Got in another 3 seamers. Season is going well.

I failed to mention, Tremlett and Anderson are in my second XI, as well as Scott Newman, Ravi Bopara, a 60 average regen and W Jefferson. If only I could field a "Surrey B" eleven to get extra prize money.

You guys seem so much luckier than i do.

In all of my games with ICC08 i have paid 50,000 for youths, and the best i have had is one or two 50+ batting youths.

In my current game i have only spent 10,000 on youth, so im expecting cripples with arms missing. :p

I'm playing as England at the moment, and i'm doing ok. I'm bouncing up and down in the ODi ranks, from 2nd to 6th. In tests i'm a firm 3rd. Need to crack India and Australia which seems a bit too difficult at the moment, but in the Ashes its 1-1 with 3 to play so heres to hoping. I'm in 2015, and here is my squad -

Rob Key (Is a good batter, but most of all, so good a bowling!)
Alistair Cook (When he reaches 60, you know he has reaches 200+)
KP (Superb, has a few failures, but overall he's great)
Billy Book ( Only regen worth having, ave. 78.34 in Tests and 21 in ODi, wasn't cut out for them, 80 ODi's played, 1 Hundred)
Adil Rashid (Makes hundreds like he takes wickets, with ease)
Andrew Flintoff (On the verge of being dropped now, he hasn't had a decent time of it of late)
Lee Goddard (Catches, and makes runs, i couldn't want more could i?)
James Harris (Doesnt score many, but bowls wonderfully well)
Ryan Sidebottom (He is 36? but still doing the business, swing it in hard and gets wickets)
Shantry (Two left armed bowlers seems to work, the opposition can be 5 down on any wicket within 10 overs with these two)
Monty Panesar (Just got back into the side due to his tight bowling, as my other spinners are too expensive, Rashid is expensive but takes shed loads!)

Wainwright is on the verge of the side, and in ODi's Flintoff drops out and i play 3 spinners.

Over half of mine are signed the rest are from my own youth team.

You could always Ctrl+Alt+Del out when the youth player comes until you get an insane one... not that I have ever needed to do that to get good youth players :P

Since we all seem to struggle with bowlers from the youth team, I shall air a thought: I had a youth alrounder with a good bat average but who couldn't bowl for his life (averaged about 60-70, went for 6 an over etc.), so I didn't play him. Meanwhile I had a few very promising regens who were specialist bowlers. After a few years in the second team with technique (mainly accuracy) he is almost as effective as the other guys, if still a bit expensive. The other guys got about as much technique, so next time I get a regen bowler, I am intending on leaving him in the second XI until he has been there for 2/3 years, and is at least 24 years old.

Lol omg. I pay 10,00 for youth, half way through the season i get a batsmen who averages 65 in the second team. Sod paying 50,00 boys, pay 10,000 and get supermen.
