u just need to keep at it boys. just like an out of form batsmen, you gotto keep trying to get back into form.
im now 21yrs old, a level 2 batsmen, and its hard to get out for under 25 in domestic matches.
i am not that good. i restarted my career as a pure batsmen, finished first year with an avg about 20-25 in all forms. then things got ugly and i wanted to quit the game of cricket. i had the worst 2nd year syndrome, my avgs slumps to mid teens in all formats, dropping to 12 in TESTS. i was at a career low, no chance of playing overseas. NO CHANCE. 3rd years rolls around and i start putting in numbers similar to my first year. 4th year and i finally cracked my first ton and a bunch of 50's, and NO CHANCES turned into GETTING ATTENTION.
Today im about to embark on my year of 21. my last 5 innings id have an avg of about 50+. My career avgs went from mid teens to now topping 20, the numbers are starting to swing the other way, my skills are starting to get a voice. Front foot and straight bat are past half way, finally the slow progressing is harvesting some results.
Its absolutely brilliant. Ive still got a huge chunk of my career to look forward to. I walked out of school like a greenhorne and got pwned for 3/4 seasons at state level. But now going into adulthood, you can really see and feel the difference. I am surely going to make the UK comps this season and i cant wait to post some scores and contribute to the team, coz i feel like i have let everyone down, especially the fans, they have been patient with a
#3 batsmen getting out for less than 20 too many times. Those days are over. Let the fun begin
Everyone should be aware that the game isnt that difficult. Its just our career skills are soo primative its a slow start. But once the tide swings you'll be posting scores and loving it. There is still a bit of pre-med, but ive learned to adjust and play on merits for deliveries under 115kms. Anything above this, and i play to the gaps and my strengths. Just block if there is no gaps or strenghts to play to, eventually they will show up. But at the end of the day the biggest relief is your skills. Somehow the timing window feels bigger, you get less knicks and popped up balls and instead, get more boundaries and find gaps which means runs!!!
