I did Bermuda (me) vs England on hard in a test match at the Oval. Batting and bowling no Hud at all!
I batted first, and as batting was so ridiculously unbelievably hard, I decided to block out until lunch and see what I should do next. By lunch on day 1, I had all ten wickets in hand, but only 20 runs on the board. Both batsmen had strike rates extremely low. James Anderson had bowled 7 overs for 7 maidens!
Soon after lunch I eventually lost a wicket whilst trying to pushi on a bit. But still got to tea with 9 wickets in hand and 57 runs on the board. I was still doing 1 an over though, but in the final 10 overs when the new ball came on I got around 40 runs in those 10! End of day 1 and I was 135-1 after 90 overs, for a team like Bermuda against a team like England I have to say that isn't that bad! Extras helped me out as well, with 22 of them no balls and a couple of wides.
I then decided to try and get a move on in the morning, but it didn't go to well
I lost 2 wickets in quick succession and soon after that I decided to stay quiet and block everything again. I still had K. Demp out there though, probably Bermuda's batsmen. He just passed his 50, but from around 200 balls though!
I made it to lunch with the score at 205-3 after 120 overs. But straight away after lunch Swann bowled very well, I lost 3 quick wickets and suddenly found my self on 230-6. But Demp was still out there, slowly moving towards a well deserved hundred. But he would have to wait until the evening session. The score was 279-6 at tea on day 2, Demp was on 97, and had been fathering the strike. The evening session like Day 1's evening session, it had more runs in it than the the morning and afternoon sessions. Demp got his 100 finally, and as him and the tail-ender pushed on, the run rate was starting to increase. And Bermuda were 371-6 at the end of day 2. I finally managed to get the run rate above 2 an over!
Day 3, and Bermuda were still batting. Demp was hogging the strike as the runs tally started to push up, and Bermuda reached 400. But soon after, Demp was out for 152. And after that the tail couldn't hang around for long and I was finally bowled all out for 438 from 207 overs. A good performance!
England decided not to use my tactic of defending everything and decided to go for it. After 14 overs they had already passed 100 with 10 wickets in hand. At tea the score was 167-0. Struass and Cook both on 70 odd. But the partnership was eventually broken with a wicket from Demp. An Lbw which was defiantly not out, but for some reason the umpire given it. Hawkeye suggested it missed off stump by at least 4 inches. But I well, I will take it
But they made to to the end of Day 3 on 303-1. Demp pick of the bowlers with 32-3-124-1. Next morning though England went for it again, but it was costly. Demp got him self another wicket, this time bowled. And the Leverick got him self one caught behind. At lunch the score was 422-3. I decided to stay with Demp and Leverick bowling, see what would happen. It was working fine, and I got my self 2 more wickets. Both from Demp. But Prior and Collingwood stayed out there, and for the first time ever I would be playing on Day 5. At tea, England were 595-5, Prior and Colly were still batting! I finnally got them both out, Demp got one and the other was a run out. Demp had just bowled his 62nd over! And as we approached the end of day 4, I decided to end his spell and brought on someone else. And on the morning of day 5 I finally broke the partnership and England were all out for 680.
I decided to go for the draw, I am currently 36-4 off 37 overs. 4 overs from tea. I'll tell you If I made it to the end or not tomorrow, but right now I need some sleep.
