Whose talking about pitches here? Batsmen can almost close their eyes on a pitch in Pakistan and can still score hundreds of runs. Pakistani pitches have been of the worst kind of flat pancakes that have been dished out in the past few years (those two test matches vs india, I can never forget). Now, dont say we gave a good pitch in Karachi and you lost. If you could give such pitches, why didnt you give it in the first place (you tried to lull India into playing on docile pitches and then unfairly shock them with a lively pitch)?

There's nothing wrong in trying to glue a pitch if it helps improve the playing conditions. It obviously didnt work that well.

Saisrini - pitches in India are ALWAYS batting tracks.

I don't know where this hypocrisy is coming from... It is only in the recent Asia Cup we have seen these flat tracks.

In India, it is almost ALWAYS a flat track.

And Saisrini - we're the home team. WE decide the tactics of our pitches. We used it to our advantage. Stop thinking that you guys get to decide the pitches that we make because you're so important. It was a risky tactic, but it paid off. And if I remember correctly, your team on the lively pitch had Pakistan on the mat at 39-6. And you couldn't finish it off.

Not our problem.

Wussies?

You are completely naive of the dangers.

Sureshot, have you ever lived in Pakistan? :)

Simple question.

Lets make it even simpler. Have you ever BEEN to Pakistan?

I think I am a better expert than you on the security of Pakistan and the levels that can be provided.

India is safer than Pakistan for sure.

7 bomb blasts rocked Bangalore just yeseterday. If the IPL was going on, then all the IPL players would stay.

And don't argue that point - I know for a fact.

Several bombs exploded in I believe Jaipur. No IPL player left the country.

'Major concerns' with Pakistan security - Smith

Cricinfo said:
South Africa toured Pakistan last October for a Test and ODI series and Smith said the security situation had worsened considerably since then, when a state of emergency was declared just days after their departure.

"From the players' point of view, we do have major concerns with security in Pakistan," Smith told Sapa . "A lot has happened in Pakistan, from a security point of view, since we were there and those are things that are worrying us. Generally, that's a full-player view. I don't know any players who don't have issues with regards to security in Pakistan.

"There were bombings taking place in Karachi and bombings are taking place in Lahore now. Within three days (of us returning home), there was a state of emergency so we have seen how quickly things can develop."

Full Story.

One team made 210 on a pitch India glued together.

The pitch curator said the opposition had NO chance to get the total because it was glued.

They were bowled out for 79.

Since when do you GLUE pitches?!

Seriously a first.

If you ar referring to the Pak - SA game at Mohali, that was not on a glued wicket.
Glue was only used at the Brabourne stadium(Mumbai) games.
In fact I felt that the 2006 champions trophy was quite exciting because we saw a lot of close games, albeit low scoring ones.
The Australia-West Indies league game was a classic and so was the India-West Indies league game, both of which went down to the wire and where the target was around 240-250.

Coming back to the security situation, I cannot understand how Pakistan suddenly becomes unsafe for Aus,SA,NZ and Eng while India have been frequently touring Pakistan since 2004.
India have fought wars against Pakistan ! Logically, if Pakistan was an unsafe nation, it should be the Indians who should be complaining first whereas none of the Indian players seem to have a problem.
I don`t think the Indian players would have agreed to tour so frequently if it were unsafe.
The Indians would know more about the security situation than people like Smith,KP or Symonds who`ve expressed concerns prematurely on the safety of the country.

Australia carried on with the Ashes tour in 2005 even after the London Bombings. So did the IPL games in Jaipur after the Jaipur blasts !
Withdrawing from the tournament would mean bowing down to the terrorists.

I would love to see all teams participating at full strength in this tournament as it promises to be a close one.

ICC powerless to prevent Pakistan boycott, says Lorgat

KARACHI: International cricket chiefs admitted on Friday that they would be powerless to prevent any mass pullout from September's Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Responding to suggestions that players and even teams may skip the event because of security fears, International Cricket Council chief executive Haroon Lorgat said, "We cannot force players to attend. All we can do is make them confident about the measures taken in regard to safety and security and on that basis hope they participate."

No player should be forced to play. If they feel it is unsafe they have every right to pull out the board can then pull out as well.

Has it ever been discussed, the values of Pakistan? Is it worth asking in this thread what is good, what is interesting about Pakistan? Sell it!

Sight-seeing.

Go up to the mountains in Islamabad. Brilliant sights

I'm sorry we don't offer your players the ability to get drunk and get in bed with a prostitute...

Of course the players have every right to pull out.

But every board has said they are happy with the security provided...

Our culture, our existence, our people. That’s whats interesting about us. (yes there are bad stuff going on in Pakistan too, like corruption, poverty, terrorism, human rights, but that’s not just our problem? Also, it doesn’t mean we wouldn’t be able to host a event or something we love, cricket. Sports provides hope IMO.

(Also, Pakistan is known as the Asian Switzerland because of it’s beautiful natural views up in the hills beside Kashmir.)

Sadly that stuff goes on Pakistan too, so yes.

I know it goes on usy, but the players aren't going to be able to find the prostitutes.

They can't speak english :p

And they don't know where to go, and its not exactly on the internet as to where they're located.

Why do you think Aussies go on Cricket tours for hookas’ and to get drunk, I mean it's all allowed in their own country. You're trying to overreact (IMO), they're just scared to go to a Muslim country who's leaders are courrupt, and in the situation right now (In northern frontiers), we'd all do the same if we were in their positions.

We need to get over with blaming the "western" players and blame their politicians more, ours too.

Hey usy - they're not even going to NWFP.

Thats not even part of the discussion.

I remember Symonds was out drinking all night the day before Australia lost to Bangladesh in 2005 in England. Freddie Flintoff drank too much before games during WC 2007.

I'm sure theres more incidents, but these are just a few I've highlighted.

now ill just ask once again. What purpose does a terrorist have with blowing up a cricket player.

What purpose do they have in attacking a normal person?

If they say, kidnap Sachin Tendulkar, think of all the ransom money they could 'sell' him for!

And exactly how is Sachin going to be kidnapped with around 7 security guards around him?

Keep in mind they all hold AK 74s (or something of the like)

Also no reason why you shouldn't trust our security, how did Late Benazir die then? uhm! Maybe the government knows better.
