Still at the end of the day the best answer I can give to the question Is Pakistan safe for the cricketers is a maybe.

I dont know about you guys but in my lifetime I have read about more attacks and blasts in Pakistan than any of the other Cricketing countries. (Zimbabwe excluded)

Definitely the most number of pull-outs, shortened tours and boycotts on security grounds.

Sureshot, have you ever lived in Pakistan? :)

Simple question.

Lets make it even simpler. Have you ever BEEN to Pakistan?

I think I am a better expert than you on the security of Pakistan and the levels that can be provided.

I even wasn't replying to you. Innocent people are killed by terrorist attacks, why can't those innocent people be Cricketers?

You cannot call a cricketer a wussie for not wanting to play in Pakistan. It's childish.

Aussie cricketers still refuse to tour Pakistan

MELBOURNE: Despite the International Cricket Council's (ICC) stand to keep the Champions Trophy with Pakistan, Australian cricketers are adamant and have refused to tour the strife-torn country for the eight-nation tournament in September.

The Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) Thursday informed Cricket Australia (CA) that many of the star players of the world including Australians are not prepared to play in Pakistan, it was reported by The Age .

It is how the media portrays us to be honest.

The media portrays Pakistan as a backward, uncivilized country, while India (just across the border) is a forward, civilized country.

And India is on the top list for the most terrorist bombs going off, I believe Pakistan are under India in that aspect.

Most bomb blasts in India go unreported.
Yet the Australians and English have no complains about going to India - even with the bombs in Bangalore and Ahmedabad going off.

I Think Pakistan Cricket Board are doing Right and wrongs' at the same time, First They said, "Even if the biggest stars' of cricket won't come, the tournament won't be affected"..

I would never bother, They are losing fame quickly on one side, by spurring out their mouths' and decreasing that special relationship with their friendly countries, they should try and understand the other's problems and not look about getting a mysterious geezy fame with the line, "ICC Champions trophy 2008 Pakistan"..

I know it would be a priceless gift for a country willing to Host it, but as well should think about the recent Hazards that have taken place..

And that good point;

They are sort of getting cricketers to think about their cricketing careers and themselves and not enforcing them to participate in the competition..

And on a final point, I would like to say that no one is against pakistan, people want to see action in there as Asia cup went so exciting, but only concern is proper security..

I do not know what's gonna happen next but i can tell that this tournamemt is gonna be a controversial one

The situation in Pakistan has calmed down now. This is because the government has taken action up north near the Afghan border.

No one should head Pakistan till Proper Security is established ..(Maybe be done)

Security comes first ..

are Aussie ready?

Well if that is true about Indian bombings not being reported, then I'm afraid it seems noone has reported it. What has been reported though, is that Pakistan has had more than 60 major terrorist incidents over the past year compared to India's five.

Champions Trophy pushed back to September 12

KARACHI: The Champions Trophy in Pakistan has been pushed back by a day to September 12 amid PCB claims that 9/11 was never meant to be the starting date for the eight-nation tournament.

Shafqat Naghmi, a senior official of the board said the tournament was always supposed to start on September 12 when asked about reports that the ICC was wary of starting the event on the anniversary of the deadly 9/11 terror attacks on the United States.

Great, superstitious cricket boards. I hope they never play on 11th Jan or 22nd Feb. Or 7th July or 5th November...

So what if it starts 9/11? IDIOTS!! Whats with a day? According to me, everyday is auspicious.

You guys dont have the strength to prove that the truth is something else? I am pretty sure that what is projected in the media can be proved false in a very fitting manner if the victim involved decides to do so.

The functioning style of your country (the military dictatorship), etc all are reasons why other countries have such less faith in you. Added to that, nobody can deny that many of the people in Pakistan are very volatile and when they reach their peak point, there is not much that the security can do to stop them. The players would not venture into such territories without fear in their minds. So other teams are not wrong in fearing for their lives when touring Pakistan. Better to be safe than sorry!

That is laughable. Don't they remember the World Twenty20 started on 11th September last year, and everything was fine?
