Well if that is true about Indian bombings not being reported, then I'm afraid it seems noone has reported it. What has been reported though, is that Pakistan has had more than 60 major terrorist incidents over the past year compared to India's five.

We have had 60 major terrorist incidents? What are you smoking?

So what if it starts 9/11? IDIOTS!! Whats with a day? According to me, everyday is auspicious.

It was ALWAYS slated to start 9/12. It was incorrectly reported in the mediaoutlets as 9/11.

You guys dont have the strength to prove that the truth is something else? I am pretty sure that what is projected in the media can be proved false in a very fitting manner if the victim involved decides to do so.

The functioning style of your country (the military dictatorship), etc all are reasons why other countries have such less faith in you. Added to that, nobody can deny that the people in Pakistan are very volatile and when they reach their peak point, there is not much that the security can do to stop them. The players would not venture into such territories without fear in their minds. So other teams are not wrong in fearing for their lives when touring Pakistan. Better to be safe than sorry!

We're under a military dictatorship? Please get your facts right. Pakistan is a REPUBLIC. All you are doing is spewing filth out of your mouth. We are volatile people? That is once again, news to me.

We are not sending the players to Peshawar, or the NWFP (Although we should). There is NO security risk here if the proper precautions are followed.

They'll probably bomb on the 12th deliberately.
Yes, we will blow you up on the 12th.

How wonderful for you to be able to predict that..

Please take your predictions elsewhere.

Well, he has suspended the constitution twice

In the preceding events of the coup d'etat he was behind to oust Nawaz Sharif, Musharraf's generals arrested PM Sharif amongst others. He got into power through brute force and has stayed in power through brute force. It's a dictatorship.

Though I should say that people mustn't say things like "people in Pakistan are very volatile". It's inflaming the situation and is offensive to Pakistani's. More talk like that and I'll have to consider closing the thread to let people cool down. And given how the tournament is only 6 weeks away, we don't want it closed for any kind of time before that.

Going on to cricketing matters (I've almost forgotten what they are!)

If Colly is in such awful form, will his ODI captaincy be dropped? I suppose that depends if we send a full strength squad, or even a squad.

Collingwood will HAVE to come to Pakistan, to keep his place in the ODIs...

If he decides to opt out, then he will be struggling to get back into the international arena for some time.

I think it would depend on if he were going against the views of the ECB. If the ECB are fine with players pulling out of the tournament, then maybe not.

I'm just assuming on what Giles Clarke said when he came to Pakistan 2 or 3 weeks ago (on his own with Creagh O' Conner from CA)

He said that players who don't tour Pakistan will probably lose faith with the selectors, and if a player who goes to Pakistan performs well in that player's position, he will likely retain it.

For example, Collingwood pulls out, and Owais Shah replaces him (although he is probably already in the squad, this is an example). Owais Shah performs in Collingwood's place. Collingwood would then have to consistently perform in domestic cricket and win back his spot in the England team.

This was assuming the ECB found the security arrangements adequate according to Giles Clarke. He also spoke that he will be coming back to Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy :)

Shah is a regular in the ODI team anyway. But I see your point :)

No offence Shah is overrated just, like you guys rated Mahmood..

No he isn't. Shah has proved himself as a pinch-hitter, as a man who can score a hundred when he needs to. He is in my eyes, an excellent ODI batsman. Should be in the Test side too. Better batsman than Vaughan, Colly and Strauss. Maybe Cook too.

'ICC may take away CT from Pak at last minute'

KARACHI: The ICC has retained Pakistan as the host of next month's Champions Trophy for now but former captains like Imran Khan fear that the event would be taken away from the troubled country at the eleventh hour due to mounting security worries.

Imran said he remained pessimistic about the eight-nation tournament being held in Pakistan. The former all-rounder felt there was every possibility of ICC taking it away as it would be difficult to convince countries like Australia and England about the security situation here.
