Yup If Pakistan goes out of Semis and that will only be confirmed on Friday so It is our team who would be responsible for this. I'd call West Indies match a bad day but the match against Australia was in our pocket but the team needed thrashing before it started to perform good and Pakistan could definitely improve their run rate a lot against Newzeland and Afghanistan but the confidence was very low and Pakistan needed more relax wins than thinking about NRR at that time so I give them benefit of the doubt.

Anyhow, as far as the championship is concerned, I will definitely see Australia or England as favorites. I don't see a slight chance of India winning the cup considering the performance they gave against England and barely lost yesterday match against Bangladesh. Australia is looking a strong unit while England's favorite tag hasn't been lifted off since well before the beginning of the World Cup. English media and experts cannot afford a loss this time around and they are virtually mentally prepared that this time the World Cup is for them.
I think England have been very lucky in this last part of the tournament when their last 2 games were do or die.
I mean how much more lucky can you get.
match against india you win the toss, bat first bcoz its been the trend in this world cup that chasing is difficult
roy comes back into the team at right time
And its a flat batting track with short boundaries on either side of the ground
Then comes the NZ match and again you win the toss and again you get a good batting wicket.
English commentators said that todays pitch will hold its own and remain the same for the whole match but guess what it slowed down just at the right time when england innings ended.
It was interesting to see the way virat made a cheeky taunt towards ICC which got unnoticed right after ind vs eng match he said that it was actually surprising or freakish to see that when one team needed a win badly, a good batting track was provided with no spin and short boundaries as well

<untjay Manjrekar is being blasted on twitter! I hope his employers take note.

Nasser Hussain meanwhile going overboard and saying only England can beat England! If India play their "A" game they can certainly beat England. And, I am talking about this scenario on the wicket in Birmingham. Give a neutral track and India will paste England 7/10 times!

To be honest, I knew from the start New Zealand was going to get thrashed by the stronger teams, they've played all the weak teams early which shot them up the points table. They've looked like an ordinary side all tournament. If they make it to final 4, whoever plays them in the semis has a free ticket to the finals.

This is the exact type of comments that Bairstow was pointing out as absolute hypocrisy a few days ago. The Poms build their own teams up to unimaginable levels of hype and absolutely tear into them when they inevitably succumb to either pressure/simply not being good enough. The previous football WC was the first time in ages such aggressive hyping did not occur and guess what? They actually overperformed and reached the semis.

I’m still highly surprised by how poor they were versus you lot and England (though missing Ferguson for Southee is a big loss). They were extremely competitive versus England in their last ODI home series and only lost the series due to Taylor missing the final game due to injury.[DOUBLEPOST=1562179613][/DOUBLEPOST]
Chris Gayle's last ODI tomorrow :(

Believe that he will be playing versus India in their bilateral ODIs.

So we should get only one point for beating Afghanistan? Blaming the point system won't work, every team had fair chances to qualify and that's how it works in the Football WC as well where you don't get bonus points for beating a team above you.

Calling NRR to be silly is again pointless, you earn or lose based on your performance there's no magic involved.
I didn't say anything about bonus points, I don't know where you got that from. NRR has it's place, but when separating teams on the same points, I think it should be after head to head.

[DOUBLEPOST=1562180879][/DOUBLEPOST]The winner of the Ind-Eng semifinal will win the WC. I don`t see England losing this WC from here on.

Well, I don't think Bangladesh and Afghanistan are easy fixtures for Pakistan. They will thump Sri Lanka in my estimation, depending on when they play them. If they don't beat them, I will be quite shocked. The other five games I just don't see them competing. Man for man, they're just not good enough. In these situations, tough teams like NZ/India who keep their nerve can still push through but that is actually the Achilles heel of Pakistan. Two of those teams will have to have shocking days for Pakistan to have a chance. Looks bleak. If it comes down to NRR, I think WI have smashed the daylights out of that in one day.

Unreal!

Are you kidding me? I remember something on the lines of 'it's coming home' as a trending #.

The next lame # is this 1992mebhi. I think Pakistan bring a "zing" to a cricket tournament. I'm disappointed it's been extinguished today, but I won't lie I was really waiting to make fun of [HASHTAG]#1992mebhi[/HASHTAG].

I have a strong feeling Australia will lose to SA and India will beat SL to top the table. In that case, it will be a Ind v NZ SF and I hope India win that and then thrash England in the final!

I don't really care who we face in the semi finals to be honest. Honestly, I just don't see anyone beating England. I am having a sinking feeling that we will be bundled out for nothing and England will cruise into the finals.

Fair enough, got your point but I don't know how can it be implemented when NRR system works just fine.

If we get a preference, would go for NZ in the semis by winning against SL and hoping SA defeats the Aussies. England have had their bad days but they're still a good side much better than NZ and these home conditions favor them. Anything can happen in these knockout games, any team can have a bad day at the office hence we can't write off NZ either.

Both India and Australia are capable enough to beat England especially if the opposition get to bat first I don't see England chasing 300+. They heavily rely on batting first and putting up 300+ and defending the total which won't work always.
