India have underused Jadeja a lot in this tournament, which is a good sign. I dont think Jadeja is that good an allrounder that he can take that spot in the team for granted. An in-form Ashwin is anyday a better choice than Jadeja. And now with Mishra making a strong case to be played often in T20's and ODI's, I feel Jadeja is the guy who has to take the chop if needed. But I think for now, he is OK because our fast bowlers are so bad that we dont mind 3 spinners

Because of just one bad tournament?

Yeah Klusner is one player who is not mentioned often enough ... he was a giant in his days, and almost single handedly won SA the '99 WC ... what a player he was. No one who saw him during that period will ever forget him ... sadly I don't know how, but many ppl have.

Yea SA was the clear best ODI team going into the 99 WC - big choke then. However while they was one of the favs in 03, AUS was the main favourites then for sure.

The other more obvious tournament chokes for me when they were clear favourites was the 2009 t20 world cup. Their team was perfect then & was playing the best cricket until they lost to PAK in the semi's. Also the 2011 world cup, the only team that beat IND & lost stunningly to NZ in the QFs. 2007 T20 world cup @ home, major slip up. 2009 Champs trophy - strong team that somehow didn't even get to the semi's.

I'd wager with Kallis around they could be favourites for the 2015 world cup.

Jadeja has looked good because Ashwin has been bad, and Mishra was not given chances. Jadeja has not set the stage on fire of any sort. He has been decent, with some good performances sprinkled in. And his batting has never taken off and refuses to take off at all.

If Ashwin comes back well (in all formats) and Mishra continues this good work, we wont need Jadeja at all (in fact, we might not be able to fit three spinners most of the time).

Jadeja has never been a great player like he is hyped about. Ashwin was a bit scratchy and that is why Jadeja looked better. Ashwin is a much better bowler who can also bat a bit. Only problem is his fielding, he can take good catches in slips but a very poor fielder, a plastic engineer rather.

Yeah I think that in '03 SA were the clear second favs but with Home Advantage I think they sort of were on par with Aus to win. I feel SA's biggest choke was in T20 '07 when they lost to India so badly that they go knocked out of the cup on NRR after having one foot in the semi going into the match.

India seem a little too cautious. As I was typing this Kohli danced down and smashed Herath inside out for the max.

Even so based on the innings so far the plan is to keep wickets for the final overs.
