ICC World T20 Bangladesh 2014

it's just a pity kohli hasn't turned it on to these levels in the test arena, it would be like watching ponting, tendulkar or lara at their peak. he's in the running for an all-time XI in limited overs cricket already the way he's played over the last couple of years.

incidently, called a sri lanka v india final at the start of the tournament. I will have my dues.

even srt ponting took some time before turning it on in test arena with big hundreds, kohli is only 25 he's already getting good centuries but needs to make them daddy hundreds or doubles once he does that he will be in the league.#not_too_far_away

I thought it was a very calculated, brave decision by Dhoni to send in Suresh Raina when he himself could have come in. I doubt some Dhoni critics might say "he chickened out during pressure situations", but to me, it was calculated. Steyn was not that good against left handers and is close to brilliant against right handers (and both VK-MSD are right handers), the left-right combination was unsettling bowlers

Not to forget the contribution of Rahane and Rohit. They gave us a flying start. Rohit did play his typical million dollar shot to get out, but by then, he had done enough. Rahane was also brilliant. I think we can persist with this team for the final too.

I told you guys it was going to be a walk in the park for India

But we stand no chance against SL. Herath is in amazing form. And their top order is firing

it was good decision raina never wastes balls like yuvi so even if he gets out quickly dhoni comes in and takes on or if gets runs quickfire like he did today then its good.thats a level headed decision from MS.

MSD crtics will always pick something no matter what

Ha, IND in the last few years are creating a interesting knack of playing good tournament cricket, even if their form in bilateral contest in between is average. Similar too with SRI, although as everyone knows they just have lost many finals.

In some ways I wish the next T20 W-Cup was not in IND from a cricket perspective since it will be 3 consecutive T20 tour where spin becomes a bit too important.

I dont think so. Pretty similar to SA, SL will have recent memory hanging over their head, that of 2011. And the principal players of our team that will face SL in the finals on Sunday, were there when we beat SL in 2011 (Dhoni, Kohli, Raina, Yuvraj, Ashwin).

Spin rarely dominates against India. Once we lost to SL in a Asia Cup final, but that was because of the mystery of Ajantha Mendis. But quickly after that, we deciphered him and now he is nowhere near SL team. Tell me which spinner in world cricket has troubled us (you can also dig up into the all time scenario and go back to the Warne-Murali period)?

Yeah I agree about test cricket but he will get there no doubt. I think there is little doubt that when he retires he will hold all if not most batting records. Even as a HUGE Tendulkar I don't have any doubt that Most Runs, and Most 100s will end up with Virat when he is done.

As a prequel to the final I think it would have helped the build up if India had won yesterday's rain washed semi and SL would have won chasing majestically tonight. That way SL would have gone in with much greater belief.

With India's chase tonight, one can't help feel that Ind are super favorites. Also SL have so many players out of form. Mahela has struggled, Sangakarra has struggled big time, Dilshan has nothing spectacular. While SL have players struggling India have everyone scoring runs.

In as much as one can predict a T20 match, and with all the variances therein, Ind should.

:noway

SL top order has struggled and its their lower order carrying them over the line. Dilshan, Mahela have not exactly set the tournament on fire, and Sangakarra has been on a woeful run by his standards. As far Herath goes, its not the first that India are facing Herath or Mendis, and they have dominated them. SL super weapon has been India's whipping boy in the past few years, though off late he has pulled things back a little bit.

Yes anything could happen on Sunday, even more so given that this a T20 match and 2 overs could change everything. However going into the match I don't see how anyone could paint SL as the favs. India super favs.

And India havent lost the final of an ICC event that they have reached, under Dhoni. The T20 WC in 2007, the 2011 WC and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

What a game.. This game was far better than other 4 Indian matches of the tournament.
Congrats Dhoni and your team for reaching finals :cheers

I think Raina's contribution was also very crucial. That 16 runs from Parnell's over relieved so much pressure off Virat.

I was angry that Dhoni didn't come out. But in hindsight, Dhoni might have left it to us needing 7-8 runs (or even more) off that last over by Steyn, and Steyn can defend it. Dhoni might have done it too, but that would have meant more pressure and thankfully Raina relieved us of it. He played fearless in that Parnell over, which was brilliant.
