This is a truly great Test team, and it would be entirely right if they were to become the first ever World Test Champions.
  1. Tom Latham is one of the few openers who always applies himself and always scores important runs regardless of the bowling and conditions.
  2. Devon Conway was until recently a contender for best uncapped batsman in the world; when picked, he hit a double-ton at Lord's.
  3. Kane Williamson has been one of the world's outstanding batsmen for a decade.
  4. Ross Taylor has kept pace with him every step of the way.
  5. Henry Nicholls established himself in the team and performed at an elite level in the strongest bowling era since the early 90s (but needs to work on play against off-spin).
  6. BJ Watling is one of the best keeper-batsmen in Test history, and arguably the world's best team player.
  7. Colin de Grandhomme travelled around the world to make a career, broke into the Test side, and is a batsman averaging near-40 as well as an excellent stock bowler.
  8. Kyle Jamieson is a six-foot-nine high-eighties in and outswing bowler who averages fourteen with the ball 46 wickets into his career.
  9. Tim Southee is one of the world's two best pure swing bowlers alongside Jimmy Anderson.
  10. Trent Boult is arguably the world's best left-arm opening bowler.
  11. Neil Wagner essentially invented an entire new way of bowling, whilst also retaining the skills of a classical swing bowler to use when needed.
Every one of those players deserves to be a World Test Champion.

Interestingly, since BJP came into power, we've lost every ICC event!
Since Imran Khan became PM of Pakistan, Pakistan never won a match against India :'(

Nothing but a collective failure from our middle and lower order batsmen. Difference in quality is out of question when you are playing in the Final. We just threw away this match after an incredible start by our openers. Siraj not playing was another blunder. We came underprepared for Kyle Jamieson.

How many times will we come up underprepared in big matches like these?

To be fair, they did that plenty in the 1st Innings. Credit to NZ batsmen for coming out unscathed for most part.
Yeah, I can't remember every wicket, but I think New Zealand have just showed greater discipline or judgment with their batting. I think that's really been the major difference. That first session New Zealand bowled quite poorly but conditions were difficult that India couldn't really take advantage. That 40 run lead was like being 100 ahead in most matches.

fearsome tweak it.

Not winning any of these ICC tournament in the last 7 years hurts.

Choked, Outplayed, bad couple of hours , No Ball doesn't matter at the end of day its the loss you face in such games to get knocked out.
