Is hogg regarded as a all rounder. Surely hes a better batsmen than Lee who is regarded as a all rounder. Take a look at lee's batting average its 20 i dont know bout hogg's test average but hes been handy with the willow in the last few innings. I've known Hogg to get a few fifties for WA

Hogg sure is making it hard for MacGill to come back. If he bowls well this effort with the bat is surely going to see him as the number 1 spinner from here on.
Gotta give credit to the selectors made a bold choice in picking Symonds and once again he is repaying the faith.

Symonds is the kind of batsman who puts fear into the opposition.

Too bad the Indians are so tame in contrast with their approach. It has exposed Kumble's tall claim that the Indians will be aggressive before the tour began...

I dont think Lee is particularly classed as an all rounder but hes deifnately handy with the bat.

Well thats the key isn't it. If he bowls well. While i think he did ok in Melbourne it wasn't enough to cement a spot. The worst that could happen is that Hogg ends up like Pathan- batting well but just not good enough in the bowling department. Though pathan has another decade in fairness. By the way Pathan has a good arm and is a good fielder (out performed the great Yuvraj). I'm so dissapointed in Yuvraj. I've seen him field better on gravel in a domestic game. By the way did anyone see Yuvraj have a verbal fight with one of the fans. The bloke was like 20 seats across me.

Sheesh if i where yuvraj id just try and block out everything, every kind of speculation bout his perfomances and just watch the ball when batting. and of course hit the ball. When your low on confidence u have to keep it simple.

IMO India need to make changes next test match. Win toss batt first put big score on board and knock over the Australians for a low score. But being a mad Australian supporter i of course DONT want that to happen. i just hope it gets a bit more even. but of course i want the aussie to win

dont think vrv is a good selection, even agarkar would have been better.losing zaheer is a huge blow.

If he turns out like that he'll be gone selectors won't be mucking about with a spinner that can only bat a bit may as well bring in White if we want that.
Hogg has always been handy with the bat, started of as a specialist batter. Doesn't have the perfect technique but is more than capable.

If you read John Gloster's physio report you'll realise you only have yourselves to blame for Zaheer being out of the series now

He'd have to bowl incredibly well between now and the end of the tour. The selectors have made it known that MacGill rates higher and that system is very hard to upset. If he can make a solid and swift return to First Class cricket, it would be surprising to see him denied a spot. In the mean time, ponder how long it takes Johnson to get dropped.

I would say a 5 fer in an inns would do it. MacGill will have to perform in FC to show hes still got it as well, I wouldn't pick him if hes going solid. FC is where he should be standing out especially with the SCG his home ground.

well what can i say a day where india are so unlucky because poor poor poor umpiring. dont want to even go into the 3rd umpire situation. if indian bat poor i wont be too angry due to the fact they are under pressure now and if the umpires never robbed india of a day where dominated australia india would be on there way to have a chance of winning the 2nd test.

His batting and fielding really do help Hogg in the battle for the number 1 spinners spot. It also depends on how long MacGill is out for as well and Hogg in the mean time has the chance to to get wickets and take it as his own despite what MacGill has done in his test career. As Syl says if Hogg can take wickets and continue to score runs then there maybe a case to have him in there instead, which would be a dagger in the heart of MacGill who has done brilliantly despite being under Warne all these years.

I'm fully aware of that. The state of pretty much all of the non playing staff is diabolical in India. This is something that really needs to be adressed by India.

Currently, we have these bowlers injured:
-Zaheer Khan
-Sreesanth
-Munaf Patel
-Balaji

India will never realise a full strength pace attack if they keep up with the poor player treatment.
