zaheer khan's fitness will be the key, hope he ll be fit before the boxing day.

After retirement of McGrath and Warne i think this Aussie attack does not send fear in hearts of indian team. I still think that Dizzy should have been playing test matches. He is still world class bowler and one who bowls awkward length which Indians do not like. Fast bowling from Lee and tait might seem good to eyes but in test matches batsmen can leave fast bowls outside off stump and ones that are pitches short. My man to watch out for is Stuart Clarke who comes close to McGrath in line and length.

You make a good point but Lee has been in tremendous form as of late with 22 wickets in his last 3 Tests. Shaun Tait, on the other hand, has a brilliant FC strike rate of just 44.7.

Dizzy hasn't been setting the world on fire in Pura cup, that man if Noffke and to some extent Bollinger and Innes. Lee has improved a hell of a lot this season as we saw against SL.

And it seems like India have a problem with left arm seam bowling; this time the tall Victorian med-fast bowler Allan Wise. As if that's not annoying enough, they can expect to see the last day of their practice match almost entirely rained out. Their bowlers might not even bowl an over at this rate.

Indeed, if I were Dhoni, I'd declare overnight and give the bowlers some practice.

Match is over I think. It was 2 day game i think as BCCI had requested CA about that.

Typical Melbourne weather doesn't help India. Nice work from the clouds :D. From what I heard India lost 3 wickets and Wise got all three of them.

If you have no clue about the Australian bowling scene, don't comment.

Dizzy should be playing test?

Ugh.. why do I bother.

Sad luck for India. But I am somewhat happy that Dravid spent good time for himself in the middle. He is the crucial lynchpin for the side, along with Sachin and Saurav.

I somehow feel Yuvraj will be left out for Melbourne and Sehwag will open along with Jaffer. Thats what the signs have been saying in the past few days. I feel with India going into the first test without adequate match practice (in Australia), they might go for the more successful Sehwag than the less successful Dravid (both are makeshift, but Sehwag is almost a specialist makeshift). Yuvraj could be hard done by if that happens, but it wont be bad because its better to give Dravid the position where he feels the most comfortable.

India must hope they win the toss. That way, they should look to bat first and look to bat huge. If they lose the toss and bowl, they will be on the backfoot immediately.

I wish Sreesanth is fit and ready for Perth. This promises to be already a very exciting series, and he will add more excitement to it if he joins the team for Perth.

There are plenty of bowlers pushing their caqses, and Dizzy is not one of them at the moment. You can't just look at past results to decide that he is a world class bowler, he hasn't shown that for 3 years almost.

It will be interesting to see Johnson against the Indians, Wise proved that they don't like left arm quicks, so he should be able to do some damage.

And iceman, come off it, a wicket is a wicket, edging onto the stumps isn't unlucky; it's a bad shot or a good ball, but not just luck.

Nah, I can see Johnson going for a pounding in this Test Series.

Why do people keep saying Johnson was impressive in the Sri Lankan series?
He was given the best possible situation to bowl to and he still only averaged 30 odd with the ball?
That's not impressive at all.

We should be going with 4 pacemen.

Shaun Tait - Now there is someone who can knock the Indians over.
