India in England/Ireland/Scotland

Uthappa should be Man of the Match, regardless if Shah has hit a century.

Right lets have a look back at the game then.
Yet again Cook and Prior both failed to give us the sort of start that we require to go on from. With Wright having been called up and now impressing so early into his international career, I would be very tempted to use him in the same role that Sussex have used him this season, at the top of the order, at the expense of Alistair Cook. Bell and Pietersen did a pretty decent rebuild job, Albeit if Pietersen still looked out of form and had to work very hard for his runs. Owais Shah was brilliant, it was an absolutely sensational hundred, the only shame is that it's now come in a losing cause, shown the selectors why he should have been in the team from the start imo. Luke Wright looke good on debut, batted very well, very aggressively, controlled the bowling whilst he was in and he looked comfortable and didn't look out of place. Mascherenhas did an excellent job, showing why he is a good option, bats well at the end, hitting the ball a very long way, and bowl tidily. I can't say I paid much attention to India's bowling, I was fairly precoccupied. However it seems as though Chawla was yet again very impressive, and Zaheer bowled well at the death, albeit if Dravid screwed up his bowlers.

Now onto India's batting and England's bowling.
Tendulkar and Ganguly again got India off to the start that they needed, batting quickly and aggressively. The momentum did waver in the middle a little after Tendulkar and Ganguly got out. However Tendulkar's innings was fantastic. I felt we bowled fairly well, it is just very difficult to contain two batsmen like that batting how they were. Anyway, more towards the ending, I felt Dhoni batted well, nearly a run a ball is what was nessercary. Uttapha, well he's shown the Indian selectors and Dravid why he deserves his place. He batted excellently towards the end, he had his fair share of luck, but that is the way Cricket goes, he showed excellent innovation in the way that he batted. However I felt that we had the wrong fielder at Fine leg, you have to have your fielders in the positions they're required and with the activity that Fine leg got whilst Uttapha was batting I felt we needed a better fielder than Monty. I thought Broad bowled very well at the death, unlucky that he was the one who had to endure having the winning runs hit off him, I was impressed by how he handled the pressure for such a young lad.

Bring on the next game, another fantastic game of ODI Cricket. I'm really enjoying this series so far, and I don't generally enjoy ODI cricket as much as Test match or Twenty/20 Cricket.

Tendulkar got man of the match. He probably deserved it too. He faced up to Anderson and Broad who are a formidable force and played at a good rate. It takes a lot of score to score runs at the top of the order at a good rate.

"If I can score 90 and the team wins I will be happy": says Sachin, a loud cheer follows.

I was just watching the game after coming home from school and have this to say:
-Why was Yuvraj bowling the final over?
-It was a fantastic chase, Tendulkar showed that the flesh is weak, but the mind is strong and so is the technique. I just saw his boundaries in a brief highlights package and he looked absolutely fantastic.
-Uthappa - Future Opener?
-England's young guns fired well and will be deadly in the future.

Uthappa opens the inning for his state side and he will be the opener in 20-20 WC.

England can be happier though after this, as an England fan, to see our young players play well and get a massive score (Well at the Oval not much), without Flintoff bowling and to take it close at The Oval.

Futures bright!

WOOHOOO !!!! i guess this is the best ODI for india this year !!! :hpraise :clap
results dont matter much for such matches.....the tension and excitement was
really wonderful !!! :D

not in a mood to write a full-fledged review ;)........
excellent performance all around except for dravid's questionable decisions :p

All I can say is.

It's 3-3 you England *****s

:)

(Aimed at a certain Treva and Simon from MSN...)

If Freds back we'll win if not it'll be close. Broadys still a legend, there was some sloppy fielding, the opening partnership needs work but i don't think battings the issue when you can't defend 300. Good game :)

...but India did lose 3 times to England in an ODI series, slightly embarrasing that :)

Without the edges past the keeper these young players would have got a win so really don't be dissapointed in any way.
But obviously edges aren't just luck, but if that's the differance whrn your bowling to India with Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid, your fine.

Personally I'm glad the series has gone down to the final game. It could have been an incredibly long and boring ODI series if either side had walked it. So this time 7 games has worked, but generally I think its far too many for a series.
