India in England/Ireland/Scotland

i dont understand why people are already writing off the indian team
the indian middle orders record in england speak for themselves

and why are people forgetting harbhajan?
harbhajan has always had it over the english team.

even if the pacers dont fire i can see kumble and harbhajan doing the job themselves anyway

The Harbhajan who managed 8 wickets in his last 3 tests against England on spinning pitches? And can't get a look in the test team at the moment. VRV Singh averages 53 with the ball despite playing on seam friendly South African pitches. Although RP Singh has a better record and could be a problem.

Indias key bowlers will probably be Kumble and Khan, but if they can't set the tone then the whole attack could struggle.

this just might be the series where pathan comes back into form,
well least get his speed back
only reason he was so lethal was cos of his speed and now thats gone no wonder hes so hittable

If i remember correctly, he didn't in our last tour their. It's also about team spirit. Which team will bounce back better? and i believe that is england

India really struggled against SA due to the seam and bounce and that will be the same here in England (I mean the pitches not the result)

I reckon India's bowling will let them down. you can't rely on spinners in England.

this will be a hot summer and dont be surprised if the pitches are baking hot and dead for a lot of the summer

Not up north usually. Still, we can pitches full of bounce

That is what these guys are for:

-Z.Khan (RFM)
-Sreesanth (RFM)
-RP Singh (RFM)
-VRV Singh (RFM)
-Munaf Patel (RMF)
-Pathan (???)

All are international level pace bowlers so India hardly have a shortage or slight lack of greatness, but no shortage of adequate players.

The point I am making is that India have been investing more and more time in pacers to the point where the BCCI have started thinking about (I don't know if they have) preparing fast, bouncy pitches for domestic cricket to emulate places outside the subcontinent.

this will be a hot summer and dont be surprised if the pitches are baking hot and dead for a lot of the summer

Due to the soil type and climate (no 30degree whole months over here), English pitches will NEVER turn like Indian ones.

-Z.Khan (RFM) Has had a great return and get get early wickets
-Sreesanth (RFM) - Expensive but can get breakthroughs
-RP Singh (RFM) - Has not impressed me at all
-VRV Singh (RFM) - Smackable
-Munaf Patel (RMF) - What happened to his pace?
-Pathan (???) What happened, full stop?

All 100% correct, but VRV has talent and wants to bowl as fast as possible. In nice cool (to him) English conditions, he will be able to RUN in and do that. Also, RP Singh has been getting steep bounce recently which has troubled the Bangladeshis and even struck Dravid and Dinesh Mongia in nets!
-Munaf Patel (RMF) - What happened to his pace?
Don't get me started and everyone will be happier;)
-Pathan (???) What happened, full stop?
Bad couple of months, happens to the best of us, just been a terrible couple of months, thats all.

Pathan was so destructive in the ODIs during England's tour of India. let's hope he finds some of that form after the England series is finished. ;)

I wouldn't be too optimistic as both are currently out injured. Injured has become synonymous with 'Indian pace bowler' these days.

Actually it's synonymous with fast bowlers in general with the ridiculous schedule.

To be honest the test series can't go anywhere but to England. We haven't lost a test series at home in many years (Evertonfan said how long in another thread) and simply we are the better team. The ODI's we'll be beaten convincingly but who cares?

I'd care about the ODI's if there was 3...no margin for error, just 3 games were players could give it their all. Like the schedule for the windies tour.

England have a knack of winning the toss, batting first and whacking 500. It's a way to not lose tests.
