With all the focus on the upcoming WC, that test series lost quite a bit of its traditional importance. India knew that if they did well in the WC, they would not mind even a 4-0 result in the tests. So there goes the importance.

Yes India could have backed out, but that's the stress of a AUS tour before a W-Cup as ENG learnt in 02, 06, & 10/11 - long test series, plus tri-series leaves your team sapped.

Only thing is that maybe despite Shastri's concerns IND may handle it better than those previous ENG teams cause they play better one-day cricket in general.

Probably yes. But from the point of view of the players and their bodies, it's not a good idea at all. And its worrying that in spite of England having seen this kind of issue before, India did not learn from it.

Don't think the batting is equal. Cronje,Cullinan and Rhodes are inferior to Faf,ABDV and Miller. That side had the allrounders which made the difference, if this side had one of kallis,pollock or klusenar it would be the perfect balance.

Anyway back to the india game. This one will be interesting with india playing on the WACA. Also don't think India has chased yet in the world cup so that will be interesting, not many succesfull chases so far, so far it seems to be favoring the sides batting first.
 
We have had a bad start. I am already looking forward to watch Taylor and fully fit Roach bowl in tandem after a long time.
 
Running between the wickets is something that the entire world has to learn from India. The awareness they show easily gets them 30-40 extra runs.

Well yes on second this batting does have a slight edge over the 99 team, but overall as you said that all-rounders depth of the 99 team made it better overall.
 
KK guys with the group stages of the CWC 2015 coming to an end I foresee two items wrt Team India:


The good: Making it to the semi final against the home team, a rampant Australian side. Expecting India to pack their bags after!

The bad: Semi final match will be played at the SCG, historically a spinners paradise, similar to the sub continental pitches of ancient India, but has not been offering as much turn as in recent years, however can still mentally make India stronger and the threat of the ever improving Ashwin can certainly be a handful against the Aussie batsmen if the pitch offers!

Pakistan are already in - If any chances are left for Ireland to Qualify and if they'll qualify then the Carribean team gonna go back home..
