Also, I would think it would be more flexible if Kohli drops himself to No. 4 in ODI's. Being the great batsman that he is, Kohli is more flexible than Rohit with his acceleration and switching gears. I think people love Kohli to bat at No. 3, but to get Rahul and Dhawan to open and also to keep Rohit in the top order, Kohli can move one step down and bat at No. 4. If Rahul/Dhawan/Rohit get going, Kohli can come in to bash it out. If any of the top order fails early, Kohli is the rock around whom the batting rotates. It makes sense that the best batsman of the side take up the fulcrum batting spot.
After Kohli, it should be Dhoni, Raina/Karthik (I'd vote hugely in favor of Raina if he can restart his bowling) and then Pandya and the bowlers. I have a feeling Karthik will keep getting a game here and there since Dhoni is still very much in and they will consider it a luxury to convert a keeper into a fielder. And Raina gives the left handed variety and is more aggressive than Karthik on most days.
