India tour of England 2018

I personally will persist with Pujara for whole test series and then take a call on his career being finished or not.
But wouldn't that put that much more pressure on him knowing that his career hinges on the next 10 innings or less?

Oh, you meant from your point of view. Silly me, I read it as if you were referring to the team management deciding his fate.

I think today will be a good test for DK and Pandya. Facing an almost new ball in the morning session. Once they have seen off a few overs, we should get Ashwin and Jadeja some time out in the middle as well

DK gone first ball of the morning :( and Nair followed him soon

Meanwhile Pandya has started cautiously. 5 runs in 17. Which is a good sign I think. If he is going to be part of the playing XI throughout this series, then he needs to show some maturity in how he approaches his batting

What is with the "first ball dismissals" in this game? A flurry of wickets is usually a sign of ominous things.

Was a poor shot too especially on the first ball of the day. Short and wide and he just slashed it straight to third man

He is our best player in Asian sub continent for next 6 to 8 years.he also scored that 145 run innings in Lanka as opener[DOUBLEPOST=1532609576][/DOUBLEPOST]

You talking about DK .I see

HP (51) and Pant bats at 11 scored 34 not out

English team minus Woakes announced but I am surprised with

Jennings
Sam Curran
Moeen
A.Rashid (red ball)
Porter

In the team of 13

I wish england includes both Buttler and Bairstow in the team of 11.

True. I would give him (Pujara) this entire series to prove himself and if he fails, then it will be time to move on from him.

I feel like this match is showing exactly how this tour is going to proceed

We will under perform with the bat putting up average scores, and then our bowlers will fail to make inroads into the English lineup easily, with them scoring at a brisk pace to bat us out. Every bowler is getting smacked from the looks of it. Barring Umesh, who seems to have bowled a couple of wonderful spells. 10 overs, 6 maidens, 10 runs and 1 wicket

PS: Thakur has been a bit more disciplined looks like. Rewarded with a wicket

I wouldn't read too much into the batting performance. They were playing very casually with no care (as can be seen from the high run rate) but I think that will change come the Test series. I think that's the issue making this a 3 day non-First Class play 18 players type of match...there's no match intensity at all.

If you look at the dismissals of Vijay, Kohli, Rahul, Karthik, Pandya...they were all super loose drives and caught third man, covers, mid off etc. This would be a criminal batting performance in a test match but I don't think they'll actually perform like this.

How should one interpret Jadeja coming on as the first spinner? Is his spot in the team guaranteed? If so, I guess Kuldeep isn't playing the first match.

I am surprised Ashwin and Kuldeep haven't been given a chance to bowl yet. Hope they are called upon soon in the last session. I can see the temptation of playing Jadeja over Kuldeep since Jadeja can bat. But by that logic, why not play Ashwin. His overseas bowling credentials are weak, but this is Ashwin 2.0, and he has always been more consistent with the bat than Jadeja[DOUBLEPOST=1532616737][/DOUBLEPOST]

But Kohli has always been suspect in that area.

And the first 3 dismissals would be quite worrisome. Dhawan, Pujara, Rahane were beaten and beaten good

Shami's second spell. He has always been better in the second and third spells ... lets see. A fit and in form Shami can change our fortunes

Still no ashwin and kuldeep .. what is the idea here? To see if the fast bowlers can get these guys out because Kuldeep most definitely will if they dont?
