India tour of England 2018

One thing you gotta feel for this Indian batting lineup is pity ... as messed a job as Kohli and Shastri have done, their problems are getting compounded by getting to bat in the worst batting conditions

Once again its overcast with rain in the air and extremely windy

Dont make excuses. If BCCI did its job it would be making pitches at home conjusive to all conditions.

Vijay, one of the few players to be in the team consistently and not shuffled around, has done abysmally .... he is just completely out of form. One guy whose failures cannot entirely be blamed on the team management

Very poor stuff from rahul once again .. It's like he was expecting Anderson to keep bowling only outswingers

That was not a delivery worth getting out to

You don't want England to pile up the lead in England. They can defeat a team by an innings but can also lose if the opposite team bowlers get them out cheap.

James Anderson has based his career on his success in England. So it will not surprise anyone that of his 540 odd Tests wickets around two thirds of them have been taken on English soil. Of his 139 Tests 80 have been played in England. Home soil is his happy hunting ground. Not so other countries as these stats indicate.

In England
2003-2018 - 80 tests 354 wkts @23.80 .
In Australia 2006-2018 - 18 tests 6 w @ 35.40.
In South Africa 2005-2016 - 8 tests 25 w @39.92
In India 2006-2016 - 10 tests 26 w @33.46.

Yea. Which means he utilized the bowling conditions of his home ground the most than any other bowler in England. Although he is excellent in overseas too..

No he is not as these stats indicate. In my country, Australia, he has a moderate record. Due in the main to the conditions not suiting him. Jimmy performs best when there is damp and overcast to induce swing..typical English conditions in other words. Compare his away record with the man he is about to surpass..Glenn McGrath.

Declaration came at exactly right time imo. Overcast, ball going round corners. Interesting to see how India approach this innings. I.e. try and fight it out or go down all guns blazing ?
What are you talking about? What innings? What match?

On a serious note, the way England is winning this match I doubt that we will get to see even 1 win on the tour. I don't foresee a whitewash because there will be 1 match where things will fall in place for India and that will give Shastri the rope to hang onto.

:p

Yeah it won’t be a whitewash and you are forgetting India could have won first test ?

Ahh .. if only we could have had Pujara in the first game playing 17 off 77 in the second innings, we would have won that game

Pujara once again shows, he can bat time even in the toughest of conditions (even if he is not scoring runs). Has already faced more deliveries in this innings than the combined effort of Vijay and Rahul in both the innings. 1st innings also he was looking settled enough to survive until Kohli got him run out

He will be dropped next test now :p
