Can't blame the conditions here at all. Last time we played at Lord's in 2014, we batted first and Day 1 is extremely challenging conditions on that day and Rahane scored an absolutely sensational hundred (till date, his best) and set the tone for that game which India won comprehensively. Its just that instead of moving forward, the combine of Vijay/Pujara/Rahane have really moved backwards with their game and I am 200% confident that it is the environment and the way these players have been handled, which is the reason.
I wish Kumble was there at this time. Under Kumble, I am pretty sure these players would not be withering away like this. I also put quite a bit of blame here on Sachin/Saurav/Laxman, who were part of the committee that is entrusted to select the coach. I understand they were under big pressure after the Kumble controversy turned out ugly, but surely they could've put their foot down and asked BCCI to command the captain to "either get along with the coach or step down himself".
