India tour of England 2018

Pant plus Vihari should call from India if VK (back strain)not able to play on Aug 18

Karun Nair will play, if VK (back strain)not able to play on Aug 18.

Just realized Adil Rashid didn't bowl a single delivery in the Lord's Test, neither did he bat nor did he take catch. Guess it's safe to assume who Ben Stokes will be replacing.

It won't matter anyway with the way India is playing. If Kohli sits out of the 3rd Test....I don't even want to go there.

On a positive note, Pope, the debutant, didn't set/get a chance to set the stage on fire :D

So technically England beat us with 10 men

@asprin he beat me to it :p

5-0 if Kohli not playing?

For his poor wicketkeeping. His batting is not a problem. DK, as he has shown during this series, is one of the greatest wicketkeeper-batsmen of all time. His batting is awe-inspiring, inevitable and destructive.
Well he definitely hasn't shown his potential during this series. He's unable to cope with the big in swingers from Sam Curran, and he played very early at the ball allowing the ball to swing through his defences.

He deserves at least one or two matches more. He's dropped a few, and like the others he's struggled against swing. I don't think Pant would make much of a difference than him. I feel like he struggle against the likes of Anderson and Broad.

It'd be very interesting if Kohli rests for the game, would personally want to see how far can we go without him and how Rahane leads us(assuming he will).

By the sound of this article, I am sure there are a few Indian fans out here who want India to play as badly in Trent Bridge, as they did at Lord's. :p That would mean a major evaluation of Shastri and his puppets and also a reduction in powers for Kohli. I dont care if there is no backup captaincy option. We can always give an out of form player the captaincy if that said player has leadership skills. Obviously Kohli wont lose captaincy in ODI and T20 formats, what with the World Cup happening in less than a year. But losing test captaincy and being given ultimatum that nothing less than a final appearence in the World Cup is required for him to save his captaincy would be the best thing to do.

P.s: This is in no way a critique of his batsmanship.

this is what happens when you pay more importance to t20. wasting 2 months on IPL . where is the time for any meaningful preparation for long test series. or do they simply not care about their woeful away test performances, and are quite content to simply perform at home and thats good enough.

the tour to Australia will be another hammering , even without smith and warner.
They care about money making IPL but stupid BCCI should not pay 15 Lakh (21000 + US dollar) for Indian test player.per test.
They not doing nothing overseas since 2014 8th time india dismissed under 200 in england

You are right

Rahul's selection came after his A1 performance in IPL otherwise he is FLAT track bully for Indian tracks for 12 test 50's odd

They should have Shaw on first place now yesterday gavaskar says Shaw might go to Australia with Indian team

Indian selector received big pay increase
Few weeks ago. for what?

Shaw and Agarwal were told to get Ready
BCCI upset with kohli newspaper says

Pant and Bumrah warm up for Nottingham test

Stokes found not guilty.

Players are being forced to perform and huge pressure is put on them to either perform or warm the bench (thanks to Shastri). Insecurity over position in the lineup is one of the reasons for failure of players.

This could play into India's hands. If this happens England's attack will lack a bit of variety in the sense they'll be playing 5 seam bowlers without massive difference between them unlike say Australia's pace attack (no one who can bowl 150+ and no one to swing it at 145+ primarily). If batsmen get settled then it'll be difficult to remove them without an X-factor. Look at how Ishant seemed pretty comfortable against pacers in the first innings of the first test only to be instantly removed by Rashid. It makes sense to replace Rashid with Moeen but the 5-seamer idea seems very risky.
