India tour of New Zealand - Jan to Feb 2014

We would need to replace Jadeja with a proper cricket player. His batting is not helping us anytime, & there are better bowlers than him if he is picked up for bowling.
Today, Sir Ravindra Jadeja fell 200 runs short of what could have been the 1st double century in an International cricket..

For those who missed the live action today.. Short Highlights.

So for the first time while chasing Kohli scores a century and we lose. Still a brilliant inning from him and Dhoni supported him well. I still don't know why Raina is there because him and Yuvraj were equally bad in the last series. Ideally Pujara should have been there but for this tour we need to bring Raydu. It looks like Ashwin has forgot how take wickets so need to bring in Amit Mishra. Ishant Sharma is horrible and Varun Aaron needs to come in for him. Jadeja's batting has always been horrible. How come a guy with 3 triple hundreds in domestic can't even middle a ball? His bowling however is better than Ashwin right now so we have to keep him because clearly Dhoni does not want to play with 4 fast bowlers. I posted this yesterday that Rohit Sharma has a dodgy fotwork at the start of the inning so he takes time to build his inning but sometimes he becomes way too defensive. Yesterday he made 2 runs from 23 balls and missed couple of deliveries leg side which were at his pads. If he makes up for this than it's fine but if he is just going to throw his wicket away than it's a waste. This also builds pressure on Dhawan and he needs to attack straight away. Dhawan also needs to sort out which bouncers he wants to hit and which one he wants to leave because it looks like he want to prove a point that he can play bouncers. However, attacking every single bouncer is not the way to do it. My team for next match would be:

Dhawan
Rohit
Kohli
Rahane
Raydu
Dhoni
Jadeja
Mishra
Bhuvi
Aaron
Shami

This Indian Team is young except M S Dhoni. Please give them time.
I think you forgot how the Australians were humiliated in India(Test series) and England(Ashes)
I am not against any nation, but the fact is that presently Teams like Ind, Aus, Srilanka, Pak, SA and New Zealand are all equal with the tag 'Lions at home and Lambs abroad'

I just hope Dhoni doesn't end up playing Ishant in next match and end up giving Kohli to finish Sharma's quota. I would still retain Ashwin & remove Jadeja, as its bit too much to expect him to take wickets straight away. Even our Jumbo hasn't been that effective like how he looked to be in overseas. So yeah, Ashwin over Jadeja and some new blood to be given confidence. Binny & Aaron?

(its a joke about the new ICC structure)

India is the only International Team that has not produced a single quality FAST Bowler (You may leave out Srinath)
By Fast Bowler, I mean :-
1) Speed at least above 140 Km/h consistently. (145 -150 on an average)
2) Can bowl all swing bowlings, yorker, bouncer with the speed mentioned above.
3) Fitness level is high.

I'd argue that Kapil Dev was a very quality bowler. His fitness was great, great all rounder, and holds the respect of all of his contemporaries. He may not have been express pace, but pace isn't the only benchmark by which a bowler is judged.

Lol, we are comparing with players who played 2 decades ago? :)

Anyways, our newbies like shami, Yadav etc do have that right skill, but they are needing to have that right guidance to be groomed properly. If we are just bothered to drain our players in 'no use' IPLs/CLs, we are going to be same even in WC 2015.

ya what i cant understand and quite jealous is a country of 4.5 million population has 2 bowlers clocking 140-150 kmph and a genuine pace allrounder who can also bat aggressively and us with a diversified populous of 1.2 billion cant have one, somewhere the system is seriously wrong:(

Rohit, Dhawan, Raina - all got out hooking/pulling the short ball. Some things never change, do they ? Actually even Dhoni and Jadeja got out to short of length deliveries. Its a little disturbing

And we cannot play Jadeja and Raina in the same lineup. It doesnt make any sense. Raina is a better batsman and Jadeja is a better bowler. Also put Ashwin in the mix. 3 walking wickets + 3 tail enders. Too much pressure on the remaining 5 batsmen

Full credit to New Zealand for a match that they fully deserved to win. They won essentially every single critical moment in that chase, and fielded like tigers, except for that one catch that Ryder badly misjudged. I thought he threw away the game there, but then they came roaring back.

Here's to a great series!

Also, I'm suddenly jealous of the people of Napier. What a gorgeous-looking city!

Hmm..must have him confused with someone else then. Are you sure Tait played only a single test against India during his test career?

Yessir. Here it is: Shaun Tait against India

I am not too disappointed, though we should have won the game. Kohli is a monster, the guy starts scoring from the very beginning. And as usual, MSD the rock is there! We need one additional guy to contribute and we should be good. As far as bowling is concerned, Shami has been an amazing find. Hope he stays like this for long. Aaron should be tried in place of Ishant. One more game like this, and Ashwin will have to warm benches.

Wonder how long before Dhoni loses his patience with Raina and Rohit. And wonder how long will it take for Dhoni to think about blooding Pujara in ODI's. I am very confident that Pujara will do really well in ODI's, that too especially abroad. Seeing Rohit's struggles abroad, I would actually replace him at the top with Pujara and if he is really needed, bring him down the order. Wonder where the hell is Manoj Tiwary?

This should be a close series, because I am sure India will improve as it goes on.

Genetics, man. Genetics has screwed us over. Look at Bond, Southee, Boult, Wagner, McClenaghan, etc. How many Indian people do you know who look like that? :D
