whooohoo.... i went to bed after i typed that last post here and said "india deserved to win". i get back up from sleep just curious to see if we finished off and saw on cricinfo that NZ were close to scaring us... Switched on the stream and India finish NZ off in two balls.... LUCKY ME!!!

I am surprised that I enjoyed the Indian bowling today... Some serious hittings by that Ryder... And Yuvi doing his job fantastically well in bowling and then, Zaheer now. :) But oh Munaf was poor still :p

Anyways, India is comfortably placed on the driver's seat to win this match. :cheers

Surendar, are`nt you surprised that we cannot lose the series now? I remember you have given up all hopes of us winning the series and predicted a 5-0 margin in the ODIs for NZ.

This match should end Munaf's career. This is absolutely ridiculous. He doesn't take his cricket seriously. It's been a problem for a while. He gets so many chances and he just doesn't put in the effort that other bowlers do.

He is in the Test squad but he may have to be sent home permanently, after that.

Now go sleep happily lol.

Lol in fairness the kiwi fielding was well below their standards. As was their bowling. I think it was one of those days where fielding and bowling would be of a very poor standard. Smaller ground hence bigger shots create shock leading to mistakes and greater pressure.

What I felt was that the NZ fielding was very much classic except 2 or 3 misfields near the boundary, that too the fielder was unfortunate after putting some great effort.
It was India's batting that saved the day for us really. We were poor in all other departments of the game.Hope we improve them in the coming matches.

Imagine it. India scored 393 and were still shaking in the end, it's amazing how other aspects of the game were let down other than batting which was a miracle. Batting saved the day for sure. Congratulations to Sachin for another MoM and we hope to see him get that all our lives! and best of luck, Sachin austin;), the child who is named after the Great Sachin Tendulkar.

I hated this match even though India won. The bowling from both sides was absolutely atrocious. The fielding from India was pretty bad too, although it improved after the first 15 overs. This match is proof why it's more entertaining to see a bat-ball contest on pitches that offer things to bowlers as well as batsmen, rather than one sided batting affairs.

First of all, that Tendulkar innings is THE best ODI innings i've ever seen. You don't see them any better then that. In the end that hundred was easily the match winning knock and the difference between the teams. Ryder couldn't match the 60 on top of the 100 he scored.

Second, nice to see Ryder get his first international hundred. Not so nice to see Southee get his first international hundred, but it was a great pitch and small ground. If Butler wasn't injured he could have avoided it.

Third, our bowling was poor. O'Brien not being in the side was a joke. Butler getting injured and not being able to bowl half his overs hurt us badly considering he's been economical and taken wickets this seriers. No variation and no accuracy. We missed Vettori badly. Best ODI bowler in the world, I can't say enough how much that hurts us. McGlashan also missed an easy stumping which would have changed things drastically. Sucks McCullum was injured.

Fourth, McCullum was unimpressive as captain. Us bowling first (probably a combo of the coach and his decision mind you) was absolutely stupid. I've been to a lot of cricket games in Chch and i've never seen a pitch that good. It really was a belter. Great pace, bounce and carry. We saw the second highest run aggregate in all ODI cricket on it second only to the freak game in SA.

Fifth, on a positive, that was a great game of cricket. I don't care what the scorecard says 50odd run win etc. It was closer then that. There was boundaries galore. Amazing batting from both sides. You don't see that many runs scored in a day that often. Both sides should be proud of their batting efforts (aside from NZ's middle order throwing the game away) and neither side should be proud of their bowlers because everyone got hammered. Best bowlers going at 5s 1 in each side and Oram at 4s for NZ but for some stupid reason didn't bowl his last 2? He must have been injured also. The fielding from both sides was also poor. NZ were brilliant at times but they have high standards. India were terrible. All this talk about Dhoni being the best gloveman in the world and he dropped an absolute sitter. Then just when you thought India had it in the bag, Mills and Southee mauled the Indian bowlers and put us back in it. With a bit of luck they coulda got home. Ironically once Patel had to leave the attack as punishment India got to replace him with a better bowler who broke through.

Lastly, I think we should have won the game. We gave India a run out and from then on we threw it away wicket by wicket from poor batting. The second run out came from poor batting because it was an LBW appeal's confusion which caused it. Playing onto the stumps on a road of a wicket isn't excusable and then guys like Elliot and McGlashan got out purely because the runrate got too high and above 10 (due to wickets). We were so close. A few more overs and we could have made history. But it wasn't to be. Every time NZ become favorites in a game they throw it away. Whenever we're underdogs we seem to play the best.

Oh man srsli why is Munaf in the team, i reckn Yuvraj wouldve bowled better then him..pfft i reckn even Dhoni himself would have bowled better.. or even Rahul Dravid whos never even bowled a bowl in his life would have bowled better then Munaf. Such a useless cricketer. A waste of a spot.

Let him bowl crap. But how the hell he managed to smile lethargically ?
He must be infracted for this :p

Ishant will be back and then India will be at 100%. Even Pathan isn't as bad as Munaf.

It was a good win for India but they surely need to concentrate on their fielding and bowling. Ryder's innings was brilliant. Tendulkar's was fantastic. Munaf was bit rubbish bowling two height no ball. Remove him from the playing XI.

FFS, the one match I decided against taping is a cracker. I saw the highlights of India's innings and McCullum's innings, but will try and catch the proper highlights later. Tendulkar's innings was one of pure brilliance. The man's a machine, to still have the hunger, detirmination and talent at his age and having played for so long is incredible. 43 ODi hundreds and still going strong. What a talent. Gambhir can GTFO, Sachin's got some serious years left in him!
