India

I do not see us crashing out of the Cup, though we so deserve it.

Being a little too harsh, No other country bar Australia have done well in all departments. Australia too seem to be little rusty conceding 260 against Kenya whom NZ crushed before. I think our bowling will get better, we just need to get the right combination.

Australia:eek:
No team has done everything right till now.

For the next match, Bring in Ashwin and Sreesanth and also Raina.

We will be sure of a spot by Sunday. If England win tomorrow, we are in irrespective of the Ban-Saf encounter. If England lose, we are in again. The match on Sunday only determines our position in the group.

Wrong. If England win tomorrow by a good margin and boost up their NRR, we still stand a chance of being eliminated (if we lose by a margin good enough that England sneak ahead and Bangladesh beat SA).

I feel Sreesanth isn't an ideal bowler for ODI's on Indian tracks. [A career economy of over 6!!] I would keep Munaf and get Ashwin in for Nehra. i wonder though how Ashwin would be feeling..he has the most support currently from the whole of India...{maybe behind Sachin} He would be in quite a bit of pressure though.

It would be great to bring him in in front of his home crowd. IF AT ALL ASHWIN HAS TO ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY PLAY A GAME, its the next match in his home ground Chennai. Its turning almost square, and its home ground for Ashwin. After IPL, he is a Chennai hero, and Dhoni would be foolish not to use his IPL mate in this match.

India goes through by virtue of their superior run-rate. unless we get bundled out for a meagre total, I do not see us crashing out of the Cup, though we so deserve it.

WHAT??? You OUT OF YOUR MIND? India has not played the kind of cricket that deserves a crash out before the QF. Just because we were the hot favorites before it all started doesnt mean our lack of dominance is being seen as "not deserving to go further". No side has looked more dominating than India apart from South Africa and Australia (Australia havent yet played a full match against a top side).

My team against the Windies would be..

Sachin
Sehwag
Gambhir
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Raina
Pathan
Harbhajan
Zaheer
Ashwin
Sreesanth

i dont think i need to explain why i would drop munaf and nehra.

now, Kohli is a talented guy and can hold the fort whilst rotating the strike.
but since gambhir scored some runs and yuvraj back in form, we dont need another accumulator. also, unlike Raina, kohli cant hit from the word go.
he also can be used as a spinner and is equally good in the field.
playing in chennai is also an added reason.

Other nations have scored 300+ and have managed to bundle out the opposition. We, haven't managed that in our home conditions.

Dude, a team scores 380 in its first game and loses by 90 runs. The same team scores 338 and ties the match. The same team scores 296 and is incapable of defending 3 targets above 275. Do we deserve to go through ?

Versus Ireland and Netherlands, we scraped to wins-all in our home conditions. If I as a fan am subject to watch such pathetic cricket from our team, I'd rather not see them in the knockouts.

Face it, we don't deserve the spot.

@Akshay lol ... It was just a article by a fan, what can you expect. I guess you haven't seen Freddie vs Wife stuff. :p

One thing i agree with the writer is that this Indian team doesnt deserve a player like tendulkar. I'm not saying this because of the piss poor bowling or fielding. Im saying this because of attitude of players.

@mohit, Aussies got fairly easy games thus far. The minnows in their group are not giving any competition. Kiwi side is a average side at best(no offense), a second Indian XI thrashed them in recent ODI series. They can win a game or two with the help of Taylor. Only real challenge was against Sri Lanka which was called off. The last match would be interesting. I hope Pakistan put some pressure on Aussies. They have been fairly avg TBH. A 19 year old kid from Canada was spanking their so called quick attack all over the stadium. If Canada didnt collapse from 153/2 and Held their chances in the field, this could have been a embarrassing game for them.

That is a bit harsh. If other teams had been playing better cricket than India then India should not be in the 2'nd place n their group. India should have won that Match against england . Against SA , it was always going to be a bit dicey as SA are a very good team and we almost pulled it off against SA too.

:)

I hope India goes through to the quraters and then semis and then finals and then India wins .

:D

True. Australia have not seen proper pressure in this tournament yet. Had they had the likes of Gilchrist, Hayden, Warne, McGrath, etc, we can easily back them to absorb all of it and still win everything. But this team is not the same champions Aussie side. It has to be seen how they suck up the pressure (they could still win it, but lets see).

India should be there in the QF just because we have played better than most sides.

By this virtue then England don't deserve to be, South Africa too as they couldn't chase 180-odd against England. Pakistan also as they bundled out for 180 against canada. Tell me which team has been dominant? India has just lost 1 game which was a close one and you say they deserve to crash out? :lol

True. I was just making a point to icyman who said India didn't deserve to be in Knockout stage. India like every other team in the tournament has struggled to be good in all departments. Bowling certainly needs to pick up if we have to go any further after Quarter finals.

India is in quaterfinals. The game against West Indies would merely decide who we would face in KO stage

If Australia beat Pakistan, Sri Lanka beat NZ and India beat West Indies. India end up at 2nd in Group B and New Zealand end up 3rd in Group A. India would be hoping for this to happen :p
